Jenni Carlson doesn't like it...

not much I disagree with in her article, its a very safe hire. The safest hire out there. But he doesn't have the same upside as some of the others that were mentioned as candidates.

I seriously doubt many of those ragging on Carlson so hard could, if her byline was hidden, tell whether a given story was her work or the work of one of the several other so-so sports writers in the OKC and Tulsa markets.

Anyone who can get Mike Gundy as fired up as she did is okay in my book, haha.

No, you definitely should comment on journalists when they think they are wrong. One of my biggest complaints about the media these days is that they often fail to understand their readers might be smarter than them on the subject they are writing about, and they are definitely smarter than them on other subjects. It has been the undoing of many as we moved into the internet age.

But, have a lucid reason for making the arguments you do. When it comes to Jenni Carlson, it often just feels like piling on to me. YMMV.

I wouldn't say folks on here take issue with differing opinions on this hire. I would surmise that they take issue with the manner in which some deliver their contrasting opinion. ;)

Also, there's a slight problem in the timing. So many fans are happy with the new hire, and Captain Curmudgeon has to drown us in his usual shower of negativity, right at the point when many of us are relieved that the program has been rescued...
