What has he really done?

Bob Stoops is all I can think of, and that was pretty easy, essentially take a guy from UF that was a badass in the B12 and then get his entire staff from KSU in place at a FB school with tradition and resources.

Baseball: Galloway = decision by default
WBB: Didn't hire Sherri
Other Sports: Whatever, I'll give him credit, but die-hard wrestling, tennis and golf fans probably have a beef.

As long as Stoops is producing, Joe C. is good..but I'm watching this hire as the most important indicator of how good he REALLY is. Sorry, just one guys opinion.

yeah Joe C.!

your hires are SUSPECT!

As a poster I respect, I hope you respect where my post is coming from. Aside from Stoops and Galloway by default, not sure I've seen that much genius. In fact, today's press conference had me more concerned than ever.

Martin Smith is and has been a great hire for T&F. What was your problem with the news conference?

I wasn't chastising you. I am all excited that OU basketball is a point of interest again...and to that extent his hires ARE suspect. He needs to get this right.

The volleyball coach and tennis coaches have been solid hires. I also like the mens golf coach and the soccer coaches were solid as well. Didn't Joe hire the gymnastics coach even though he was an asst for the former coach?

I agree. I thought Joe looked uneasy in the press conference today. He was fidgety. He did not look confident. His answers were choppy. I think maybe the Big Boys are finally putting some pressure on Joe. A little pressure never hurt anybody. Joe struck out with Capel. He can't afford to strike out again.

Im going to get you to answer this question at some point. :) So I will try again. What do you mean he cant afford to strike out again? Bc he can and his job will still be there. Granted, He wil be a bit more tarnished but still employed at OU.

Joe C has to get this one right, there is absolutely zero room for error on this pick

I think Sid means that he can't afford to strike out again and keep his track record intact as an AD who usually makes good decisions. His job will be safe if he does it again, but his reputation sure won't.

do you want to bring finances into the discussion.....it probably wouldn't further your point

I wish he would just answer the ? Ive asked him 5+ times over several threads. He has a serious ax to grind with Joe C and I just want him to tell me why. I might agree with him!

OU's athletic program is arguably the most successful it has ever been. An argument could be made for the '50s. Even in OU's best seasons, the men's hoops team wasn't a cash cow

Sid only poses questions, doesn't answer them.
