Joe Castiglione = Too Much Credit?

I wish he would just answer the ? Ive asked him 5+ times over several threads. He has a serious ax to grind with Joe C and I just want him to tell me why. I might agree with him!

If you discover that Sid doesn't like Joe C. because he's Italian, let me know. I'll send one of my friends from Chicago to change the way he thinks. ;)

Golloway wasn't a default hire. I know it seemed that way from the outside but it wasn't the case at all. Joe C. was set to hire Golloway before the Stephenson fiasco. When the committee, Enos Semore and cronies, found out that Golloway was the choice he placed a call in to long time friend Gene Stephenson and talked him into taking the OU job. Sunny Golloway went from thinking he had the job to clearing out his office in a span of 24 hours. We were fortunate Gene waffled on the decision and Sunny still wanted the job.

To me, when you hire a guy over another guy, but the guy you hire quits, that is by default. And that Joe Castiglione wanted to hire Golloway but was convinced by "cronies" not to only makes it worse.

Just to be clear, I do not have an axe to grind with Joe Castiglione and have actually had the opportunity to converse with him via email on a couple of occasions and he was both prompt and cordial in responding to a "nobody" such as myself. Definitely not calling for his job or anything like that.

The above said, I will admit that I was surprised by the tone and demeanor of the press conference. It was like, "we made a mistake but we are going to do things the same way again" etc. Of course there is more than hiring and firing as an AD, but those are probably your most important functions.
