Jones and nwankwo

Jones is a combination of Goodine & Harris’ strengths, and JN is a 6’6 athlete. Jones is definitely needed & can be OU’s 3rd best player if he gets back to form.

Lusk says Moser talked to both after the Alabama game, and both declined his pitch to return this season. He had already said earlier in the week he didn’t think either would return. Guess this can close any hope for good.

There goes our natty.

Kidding aside, I understand why they wouldn't want to waste a season of eligibility. JN in particular -- hasn't played in 6 months, suffered an injury that is very tricky to come back from, takes a while to regain confidence and trust even after it is physically healed. Why burn up a season for 10-15 games playing for a coach who hopefully won't be here next season? I'd guess they and the high school recruits will never play for OU.

OU athletics feels cursed right now. I hope they aren’t drawing any NIL money.

Exactly, this seems silly. I mean I could understand under the old system but if they are getting paid and are healthy you better get your ass out there and play. And perform. Unbelievable it even has to be said.

I doubt they are healthy. Six months is very fast for a blown Achilles. I mean, when he tore it, everyone just assumed he was done for the year. It was silly for Moser and/or anyone else to even start talking about him potentially coming back.

Who knows on Jones. We don't even know what specific injury he has. But I can see why a player would be hesitant to come back and try to start playing more than halfway through the season if his back isn't fully healthy. It's not like a sprained ankle or something you can just push through. Back injuries can be easily aggravated.

I hope that’s the case and they’re not just sitting out to save a year. Unless they get no NIL.

Kobe returned 8 months after his Achilles injury/surgery. JN had surgery in late July, which would put late March as 8 months. Kobe was as motivated a guy as you'll find, and no doubt busted his butt in rehab. Plus, he had access to the best doctors and trainers/PTs 24/7.
