Jones and nwankwo

things are different now. players are paid to play.....whether that's 1 game or 30.
if a player chooses not to play...they should forfeit every cent of their nil.
I agree 100%. There needs to be contracts in place that state two thing: NIL money is performance based and a player will not get paid if they sit out a certain amount of games.

But on the flip side we need to remember these kids are paid mercenaries. They don’t have any loyalty to the school. They’re always going to do what’s best for them. JJ and JN may be fine dudes but they are not “Sooners.” They’ll transfer out next year to the highest bidder.

Would they add value this late in the season? If the answer is a resounding yes, then play them. If it is no or a 50/50 that they even play more than 10 minutes a game I would try and get them back for OU next year. NIL has really mucked this up with guaranteeing they would return lol

Reasonable take. I think it’s quite likely that the two guys are cleared from a medical perspective( their injuries have healed) but there’s so much more that goes into it. Are they in game shape? Can they just jump right into an SEC game and perform well? Can Moser put them into the rotation without causing issues? Is it worth using their last year of college basketball for 12 or 13 games? I don’t think Moser is lying or trying to drum up sympathy. I don’t think the players are selfishly sitting out. I think it’s a complex and nuanced situation and it’s hard for fans to see that from the outside looking in. Had they been medically cleared in December I have no doubt they would have played. But it’s tough when it’s the third week in January.
And Moser could give a simple clear answer on this given all of these things above, but he simply says their healthy and essentially insinuates maybe they'll play soon. Narrator - "they wont"

I honestly don't know what the situation is but it is complex. If I was one of the players it would be a tough call personally to give up a year's eligibility for 12 or 13 games, especially now that the team's NCAA tournament possibility is on life support. And I'm sure it's frustrating for Moser. But for him to make it sound like the decision is his to make seems ridiculous to me. But if the decision is in the player's hands I don't know what he is supposed to say either. It all goes back to NIL and the ruining of college athletics. Even a players injury status is now looked at with skepticism. And since they have been paid, it adds another dimension to the equation.

Porter brought up an interesting situation on KREF this morning; with the Diego Pavia ruling, there's a possibility that Jeff could have four years of eligibility left, and not just one.

He did say he's not going to bring a player back just to have him play ten games. I don't agree with that, but that's what he said.

Yeah, it’s like comparing apples to oranges. I actually didn’t blame Moser for sitting those two guys last year. I didn’t think one conference tournament win was going to make a huge difference OU’s seeding. Rather save them for the NCAA tournament., Like you said, now we are talking about guys who may waste an entire year of playing for a dozen games or so. It’s not JN and JJ are going to play pro basketball. Their final year of college basketball is probably all they got.
JN and JJ both have a chance to play pro basketball .... (just not in this country) ..

and this is NOT JN's last year ...he at least has next year also (but he may only have this year and next either way that is fully unknown currently)

Jeff is currently NOT effected by that ruling at all .. he would need another lawsuit .. he has the 5 year NCAA clock rule also working against him (because he was an athlete at TULANE) ..

either way Jeff 100% has this year and next ...
