I think this kid has the potential to be a Big 12 PG.
Played a really good game tonight against Midwest City and they have a good pair of defensive minded guards in the Colberts that he had to match up with at times.
He played a really big 3rd quarter that allowed Memorial to pull away.
Also a little bit of a warrior, took a shot to the face that resulted in a nasty gash on his face in the 2nd quarter and then played the rest of the game with a headband like bandage around his head. Rolled his ankle in the 4th as well but came back in ran some point vs MWC's press.
I think he is a better PG at this time then Stevie Clark (Douglass), not as a dynamic player as Stevie but he impressed me with his poise as a sophomore. Stevie is more of an off guard right now so Woodard is really ahead of him in that regard with the minutes he is getting this year at point.
Another added bonus is his older brother James (2012) is a solid 6'2 so hopefully he grows some more (only about 5'10 right now). James isn't a bad player in his own right. Good lefty 2/3 type, hit some clutch free throws tonight.
Hope he gets some time at point at AF this summer as he could really blow up.
Another guy to keep an eye on is Omega Harris of MWC. Only a freshman and he starts for them, had a rough night with 2 fouls early and a shoulder injury late but he has some potential as well. Hit a long 3 and looked like he could become a big time scorer. Little small right now but considering his age he should grow some.
Memorial won 63-50 over MWC.
