Can someone fill me in on what I/we can realistically expect from him as a freshman, sophmore, junior, then senior.
The video of him is quit impressive. he is a kid that will come in immediately and start at the point? He looks very talented.
Its going to be an interesting high school year for Jordan and I think will tell a lot about his future.
This is his first year in high school with it fully being his team. As a sophomore, which was an impressive year for a first year varsity player, Memorial was lead by Obi Emegano and of course James Woodard. Last year James was still there along with Terrell Savala (a good shooter/all around scorer that's heading to UCO) and their do it all forward Jordan Thomas was another leadership factor.
There will still be talent around him (Shaq Morris transferring in gives him his first true post player to play with in high school and Stillwater transfer Tyler Holcomb is a good 6 foot 4 shooter that'll spread the floor), but its on Woodard to lead them. Which I think is something he will do.
In July he played with Athlete's First at the GASO in Texas. The roster with he played with was depleted; with only 6 players and they had picked up a few 2014s that weren't A1 regulars. I thought that tournament was the best I'd seen him play in a while/possibly ever (2011 EYBL in Dallas was a masterful tournament from Jordan). He did all the things you would want a point guard to do, picking his spots to score, getting his teammates involved, smart defense, etc.
To be candid, I don't think Jordan had a great junior season. He had some spurts of greatness; second quarter of Edmond Santa Fe, first half of PC West, second half of Putnam City, fourth quarter vs Edison come to mind. I'm not saying it was a bad season (he started on a team that almost won state, can't be bad if you're doing that) I just thought it could've been better overall. Maybe he never fully found his rhythm,I believe he was carrying some injuries throughout the year, or didn't want to step on the senior's toes. Whatever it was, it's in the past and the future looks bright.
I think his GASO performance in which he took a young and small (in players and height) team to the semifinals of a good AAU tournament was an impressive sign. He also spent time at some of the elite Nike camps (Deron Williams' PG camp and Lebron's overall camp) this summer, so that can't hurt matters.
I expect a big year from Jordan high school wise. Not only should we see a bump in scoring, but he'll have the reigns for his team. He's always struck me as a natural point guard (which is something I think Kruger values about him) and now that he has the keys to Memorial's car, it could be a fun and telling ride.
One last factor to think about in Jordan's development. He's only 16 and won't be 17 till November, making him the age of most 2014 prospects (even some 2015s that love to reclassify at prep schools).
