...Is finding a consistent 4-7 foot shot. That would help SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH.

I know he won't let us down.

Actually Woodard shot .795 from the line during the conference season trailing only Cousins (.824) and Spangler (.797). Guess who missed a free throw the last two minutes of regulation?

Both Woodward and Cousins did. Doesn't matter as much what your average is it is what you shoot when big games are on the line IMO

Woodards FT shooting is perfectly fine and he hit some big ones, your harping on this (this is at least the 2nd time you've gone this route) is misguided.

I agree JW needs to develop a shot he can finish in the paint, preferably a floater IMO. If he can do that, the sky is the limit for him.

Woodard's biggest issue is overpenetrating, I hope he learns that going into next season.

It's hard to complain with his freshman season as a Sooner.

Jordan's biggest deficiencies are learning how to play defense and finishing at the rim. It's comical that some focus on his missed free throw (one point), yet overlook his lacking defense and ability to finish at the rim. Regardless, Jordan will work on both of these and challenge for first/ second team all b12 next year.

I was thinking offense but you are right. All of OU's guards are not good at stopping dribble penetration.

He needs to either make shots late in games or just not shoot late in games. He was the opposite of clutch this year for the most part. I don't want Woodard to have the ball late in a game because all you have to do is foul him and he'll miss key free throws.

I guaranty that is not what coaches in the Big XII saw this year. Not one of them is heading into next season planning to simply foul Jordan Woodard late to win a game. To the extent they are thinking about Jordan Woodard at all, they are thinking he is going to be a tough competitor for three years. They are thinking he might be an All Big XII player before he is done. All they saw from Jordan was potential, composure and skill.

you are simply wrong on this. it may seem like it because of how often we were in tight games at the end of regulation, but JW, esp for a frosh, has been pretty clutch imo

Learn not to drive to the base line and jump in the air and then find someone.

He did make that mistake a few too many times this year. He is going to be better next year and he will be extremely good when he is a junior and senior. When was the last time OU had a junior starting pg with two years of starting experience? Maybe Austin Johnson but Austin only had 36 starts headed into his junior season. Jordan had 33 starts this year. Austin had played 1159 minutes. Jordan has already played 1,059. Woodard will have almost twice the experience as Johnson. Prior to that I think you go back to Terry Evans and Evans wasn't a full time starter as freshman or sophomore. Evans wasn't even a full time starter as junior.

And also developing the ability and mindset to guard someone. He is a big part of the reason our perimeter defense was so bad. Buddy was probably worse though.

It's not just 4-7 feet. It's anything inside 7 feet.
Nobody on this team has the ability to make layups for some reason.

Agree … and that hurts to accept as Buddy has been lauded as a scorer … not just a three-point shooter, but a scorer. But for some reason, he seems to have morphed into Phil Forte/Brady Heslip in our last few games - almost exclusively standing and waiting for kick out passes to shoot threes.
Dynamic guard play could have helped a lot against the Alexander kid who lit us for 28 points. He played all 45 minutes and played the last 18:07 of that with 3 fouls and never got a 4th. Perhaps a more dynamic guard could've caused him to defend, pick up that 4th and get him to the bench for a few minutes. That kid carried their offense - made every big shot - and we did nothing to challenge him or get him off the floor.
All of our guards will hopefully grow and expand/strengthen their games during the offseason.
