Both schools have been figured out by their Big 12 competitors. Both have been run out of gyms lately and home and away.

Kansas has way more talent and so has won a few more close or one possession games than us, but that is about the only difference.

Neither has a rim protector and neither can stop dribble penetration without being physical and having a foul called.

Come on man. We aren’t in the same ocean as Kansas, much less boat.

I guess, like Moser, Bill Self is a miserable judge of talent and can't recruit a lick. ;)

A troll thread if ever there was one. (I assume you don't believe the premise of your own post, because the alternative is that you do believe this, which is even worse.)

I see your points (and agree with them) and saw nothing in there that made me feel worried that you were somehow trying to run down Kansas or Self or claim that our program or coach was at the same high level of Kansas's basketball. Some folks just seem to really like to attack the posts of others.

So you agree that a top 10 team, with a HOF coach, multiple NBA players on the roster, more Q1 wins in the country, and on track to be no worse than a 2 seed is in the same position as a team that has won three games in the past seven weeks, is going to finish under .500, and miss the tournament for the second straight season?

Let's revisit this thread in a month and see if KU has been "figured out." Some version of this is said every year when KU actually loses some games over a short stretch. Last year, they were "done" when Kentucky blew them out of Allen Fieldhouse. I wonder how last season turned out for them. Maybe they lost in the second round of the NIT to St. Bonny. Oh, wait, I'm thinking of another team . . .

Well I agree with elements of all 3 sentences of his post. He did go a bit heavy in the second and third sentences.

It was pretty clear to me when I read the original post that he wasn't directly comparing the current status/talent level/coaching staffs of the two programs, just pointing out that they were both experiencing downturns in their seasons that were not dissimilar in some ways.

I also liked the CowboySooner post because it brought some humor to the board which it can certainly use. It warmed my heart to see Kansas sharing some of the same struggles we are going through. But, I should have read it more closely before I posted since there are definitely parts of the second & third sentences that are definitely wrong. I have seen many posts on here by people expressing hatred for the Kansas basketball program but most all of us have to envy their program.

I’m also happy to see KU struggling (for them) and I agree their biggest issue is lack of a big. However, the thread title is definitely a joke.

I will add that my KU friend and I walked out of AFH last year when they narrowly beat OU and both agreed KU wouldn’t challenge for the national championship. Oops.

I will again be surprised if they challenge for a national championship but I will not be surprised if they improve a lot (again).

I guess Texas didn’t get the memo on how to easily defeat Kansas

You mean that game didn’t remind you of our win over Texas in which we never trailed?

I know KU has had some struggles in recent years in Stillwater, but feels like tonight was the first of at least four straight wins. I never thought for a second Texas would win tonight, because KU knew they had to have this win to stay in the race.

KU also made adjustments. Self realizes that he doesn't have a great half-court team so he had his team run run run. They threw the ball ahead for fast breaks and pushed for runouts again and again. They also took shots early in the shot clock and hit the boards hard (they had 14 offensive rebounds) instead of getting bogged down dribbling and running offense. I thought it was a brilliant game plan. KU only made 2-10 three-point shots but shot 49% from the field, mostly on layups and dunks.

First, I didn't have any hidden agenda with the post. Just my thoughts at the moment.

Second, I have met and talked to Bill Self several times and think he is a good guy and a great coach. And, no, I don't "know" him nor am I a friend of his.

Third, I never said I thought OU and Kansas were likely to go in the same direction from here to the end of the season. I don't believe that. Like I said in the post, I believe Kansas to have far more talent than OU and a crazy home advantage as well.

Fourth, I guess I was really just in a general way expressing the thought that there are a lot of reasons for our current situation and it isn't all on Moser. I think he is a good coach and will turn out to be a good hire, if he stays.

I went to my first live OU basketball game before Lloyd Noble was built. I have been a fan and follower of OU basketball since Bliss was hired. Other than Bliss, I have like and thought all of our coaches were good coaches. Not perfect, but considering our situation, good for the type of program that we were capable of having. Based on the negative posts of many on this board, I apparently have lower expectations and broader beliefs on the duties of coaches than many. Winning is important and ultimately necessary, but loyalty, development, integrity and treatment of staff and kids are also important. I do think my hopes for the team are as great as everyone elses.

I guess I just thought it interesting that with all the advantages Kansas has in facilities, history, fan support and continuity that our programs (to this point in the season) are only a few one possession games from having about the same record and ranking. Was just stating something I thought was obvious.
