This now becomes a must-win game. The loss to OSU makes every game a potential elimination game. We know that Baylor at Waco and Texas at Austin would be unlikely.

Kansas is 11-8 which exhibits how having a few easy wins in non-conference play helps. They didn't have anyone other than Washington coming back, and she is out for the season. JC transfers have given them whatever they have.

35 6-5 FR C Bailey Helgren, Edwina, MN HS
14 6-0 JR F Austin Richardson, Johnson County CC
33 5-10 JR G Kylie Kopatech
2 5-8 JR G Brianna Osorio, Southern Idaho
0 5-5 JR G Christala Lyons, Trinity Valley CC

Key reserves:
22 5-11 SR G Chayla Cheadle
55 6-2 SOPH F Tyler Johnson
12 6-2 FR F Micaela Wilson, Rayville, LA HS
1 6-3 JR C Chelsea Lott, Fort Bend Hightower HS

Leading scorers:
Lyons 14.74
Kopatech 14.21
Osorio 11.11
Richardson 8.32

Rebounders:
Richardson 5.63
Kopatech 4.42
Wilson 3.94

Three-point shooters:
Kopatech 37.39%
Osorio 33.82 %
Lyons 25.0%

Assists:
Lyons 70
Kopatech 49
Osorio 34

There is no particular reason to fear their shooting. They and their opponents have about the same number of rebounds and turnovers. They shoot free throws at 65.26%.

Helgren starts, but she doesn't play much, approximately 16 minutes per game. Only has 2.89 rebounds per game and a total of 13 blocks. They seem to rotate a lot of forwards. Largely, it's Kopatech, Osorio, and Lyons.

Their conference wins were over TCU in Lawrence and Tech on the road. They recently lost to Tech in Lawrence. They played Iowa State to OT in Ames.

We should win by 15-20.

Great start.....freshmen score the first 11 points.

:dance005:

16-6 at the five mintute mark, 1st quarter

52-26 at the half. This is the style of team that Sherri coaches best. We essentially used the post as a defensive player and rotated the ball on offense, giving us a lot of good looks. Result: shot 56.3% from the field, 72.7% from three. And, Vivi is 0 for 3 with two free throws.

Ana and Maddie with 11. Penzo has 9! Pellington has 7, and Williams has six. Ortiz, Manning, and Penzo are a combined six of six from three..We get stuffed when we go over the post when they want to defend the post. By moving and passing, we score without the post.

Kansas didn't play badly, shooting 37%. But, they really don't have the athletes to compete.

I hope we can continue to hit like this For the rest of the season, but I know it won’t be anywhere as easy as this. Kansas is pathetically bad.

If we move as well as we did tonight, we will improve our shooting. I like the first half game plan. No points for Vivi from the field, two from the line. But, everyone else was taking the right shots. If Ana and Shaina take the right shots, penetrate and kick, we can be more effective on offense.

Kansas losses:
35 --- 48 Baylor 83
33 --- 64 at Oklahoma 97
20 --- 54 West Virginia 74
17 --- 62 at Texas 79
17 --- 49 Nebraska 66
12 --- 53 at St.Johns 65
12 --- 56 Texas Tech 68
10 --- 66 at TCU 76
2 --- 69 at Iowa State 71

We are only the second team to score more than 79 points against KU. Baylor scored 83.

66.7% BTA, no way are we going to do that again but I would settle for 40% which would be an 8% improvement over their season average and have a smile on my face.

There are hardly very few kids recruited that can’t score at some point they have been proven Scorers... the real point is what kids can play defense? Teams are gonna go cold but consistency with defense will take you further than you might should go on those poor shooting nights

TCU 68 (14-5) (5-3)
Kansas State 63 (11-9) (3-6)

Texas Tech 52 (7-13) (1-8)
West Virginia 82 (17-4) (5-4)

Kansas 64 (11-9) (2-7)
Oklahoma 97 (10-10) (5-4)

Iowa State 40
Oklahoma State 46 (6:36, third)

Final
Iowa State 78 (9-11) (3-6)
Oklahoma State 69 (14-5) (5-3)

This makes the next game at TCU a key game. TCU is 5-3 in conference play as is OSU. OU is 5-4, tied with West Virginia.

TCU is a very winnable game.

We could also lose by playing with no grit and sense of urgency, missing shots and standing around (which we have had a tendency to do this schizo season).

I think/hope that we will come out with the same type of urgency and confidence we played with last night.

Yes, Kansas couldn't beat very many high school teams, but still, it was one of the best games of the season for us. I kind of thought it was really the first time we've played as well as we did when we beat New Mexico.

The nice thing was that a lot of girls really shared the load of scoring. Nice to see.

Looking forward to the next game!

TCU has now won 5 straight including wins at WVU and KSU and at home over Texas. OU's trip to Ft. Worth Saturday is going to be a tough row to hoe.

I'm excited about this game. Even though it was against one of the worst teams in the nation, I am hopeful the KU stopping gives the ladies momentum and strengthens their will and desire. I think both of have been lacking a lot this year.

If we win, given TCU's recent play, that's a big deal going into a really tough end-of-the-season schedule.

If we lose by just a few, I still think that can help, if we play hard and smart.

But if we go in their and stink it up, as we have done so much this year, I afraid this team might just flounder and collapse the rest of this season.

As Syb said, this is a very important game -- it could be the catalyst for us making the tournament or for us not even making the NIT this year.

What's the famous Ben Bradley movie quote?

"Nothing's riding on this except the, uh, first amendment to the Constitution, freedom of the press, and maybe the future of the country. Not that any of that matters, but if you guys f*** up again, I'm going to get mad."

That's exactly how I feel.

We are at the point where we need to win.

We are 5-4 in conference play.

We must play at Texas and Baylor. Neither is a likely win. If we lose both, that is six losses in conference play (with OSU's two).

We can tolerate a maximum of eight (10-8) record (15-14 overall). If we don't have a winning record, I don't see us in the NCAA. 15-14 may do it with our SOS.

I assume we win:

Kansas on the road.
Tech in Norman.
Iowa State in Norman.
West Virginia in Norman

That leaves West Virginia in Morgantown.
TCU in Fort Worth.
Kansas State in Norman.

We must win one of these three, maybe two.

We are past the point where we need to win.
We played very well, but we were better athletically at all 5 positions so I would expect to win easily.
Shaina and Ana need the minutes.
We must MUST sign more players and they must be athletic.
We should have scored 120 or more. Too much nice, not enough killer.
