Kansas State.... horrendous team

Has anyone been to their campus? I have not... but for some reason I always envision Manhattan being the worst place in the Big 12. Just a desolate town in the middle of nowhere on the prairie... That may not even be close to reality, but that's what I always think of.

I actually went to school there my freshman yr....although I grew up a Sooner...living in ks and not rich it was the next thing. A buddy had a house there so I lived cheap....back in 1982.

Course in 1982 Ks had 18 yr old bars 3.2 beer) and then 21 clubs....so as an 18 yr old I was in heaven. Aggieville..right by campus had prob 10-12 bars and clubs (about a 4 block drive..) it was the hub. Was there when they had the "riot" after beating ku in football.

It was a great place then...not flat..flint hills are all around. There is a great off road park out by the lake there...I have jeeped there many times.

We are snack bit with regards to KSU. They always seem to find a way to play above their heads against us.

I don't know if anyone caught the game last Friday, but Iowa State led late in Morgantown....but eventually lost by 3. The same ISU team that was soundly beaten at home by a bad KSU team.

Also, osu had their chances yesterday in Austin as well....and lost by 3. Like football, it's turning out to be a fairly odd year. Right now, you can't be certain what you're going to see from game to game.

The win in Manhattan was in his first year. We've lost eight in a row up there since. And, obviously, our last nine in Ames.

We're dreadful on the road in conference play. No two ways about it.

Except when we're on the road to Fort Worth. ;)

I don't think poor officiating egregiously affects the results of games that often but I feel like it has a couple of times when OU has played in Manhattan. These are the games where I wish Lon would unload on officials and get teed up to both recalibrate the refs and fire up his teams who get thrown off by weird calls.

We played one game there a few years ago in which the officiating was the worst I'd ever seen. I was chastised on this board for complaining about it, but it was beyond the pale.

Both teams played very poorly that night, but OU outplayed KSU (according to the stats, at least) and it was undeniably (in my view) the officiating that gave the game to KSU that night.

That said, our ongoing struggle to beat KSU, especially in Manhattan, is beyond frustrating and boggles my mind. I cannot begin to explain it.
