Kansas-VCU Game Thread

Self adjusting KU and VCU slowing down.

Now we'll see if or how well Shaka can hold it together til they get a second wind.

Self with the Stunned Aggie look right there at the end of the half.

Kansas is going to cruise in the second half. VCU has started to cool down from beyond the arc and Kansas has started to hit a few shots. When VCU went up 18, they needed to maintain or extend that lead going into halftime. Instead, Kansas chipped away and has a manageable deficit going into half.

Halftime score:
VCU 41
Kansas 27

Final Score:
Kansas 75
VCU 65

That being said, no one will be happier than I if VCU hangs on for dear life.

probably so. The first 5 minutes of the second half will be HUGE. IF Shaka can survive in 5 minute increments then they could pull it out ... but I think KU's "physique" will take its' toll.

I'm hoping VCU comes out and continues swinging like they have been....I mean sure they slowed a bit before half but I'm really hoping they come out with a fire and keep Kansas on their heels.

I agree with this entire post. I would looooooove for VCU to hold on but I'm just not sure it will happen.

I wish you were right but I just don't see it. KU has that look in their eyes like they know a colossal choke is happening. I hope I'm wrong.

That's what's worrying to me too. KU has been getting good looks inside. They just haven't been hitting them. They've also been missing free throws like nobody's business.

In the other locker room, I hope Smart is telling his guys to keep up this frenetic pace. It's clearly bothering Kansas' bigs who are proving to be out of shape this afternoon. I think Kansas is going to score 75 points in this game. That means VCU needs 35 points in the second half to win. They have to find a way to get easy buckets and get to the line. The three point well is is going to dry up.

nah. all they (KU) hasta do is throw it inside offensively ... VCU's saving grace is the fact they are accustomed to SPEEDING UP their movement when the defense clogs them up. I know this sounds simple but so many teams just don't do it. If they hit their shots and do create space as KU tightens up then they might hold on - but I doubt it.

I agree with Cool. I think KU will come back and win the game.

This is Kansas' largest halftime deficit ever in an NCAA tournament game.

Game over. VCU looks unnerved and their point guard is a turnover machine. He knows how to beat his man off the dribble but not what to do with it afterwards.

I didn't know those guys existed at schools like VCU and OU.
