Kelvin to Houston?

I don't blame Capel for losing those players. Even with losing them he had more guys that could play than he left Lon. A coach should be measured in how you leave a program and in that measurement Capel fails miserably.

Ha ha. So Osby, Clark, Pledger, Fitz & Neal couldn't play. Gotcha.

With Pledger, Fitz, and Neal, you are Texas Tech. It took Kruger a year to get Osby good. Two years for Cam. When Kruger arrived, the cupboard was bare.

Actually Kruger became more successful when Fitz, Pledger and Grooms were gone.

I don't really want to debate this again, but not really. Big 12 placement and NCAA seeding not with standing, the two teams had almost identical seasons. And some of that improvement this year was due to the freshman guards being a year older, not necessarily having guys gone. Nobody is going to look back 10 years from now and think much more fondly of the 2014 team compared to the 2013 team. Neither won anything of note, and both got ousted in the first round of the Dance. At least that 2013 team was supposed to, seeding-wise.

Don't know why we have to hate on guys recruited by Capel. It's not their fault he was the OU coach, and the guy they got their college careers started with.

It'll be interesting to see if he does things differently on the court at Houston, than he did at OU. He is significantly older, and now has some NBA influences. Hope he does well.

Who could forget this motto? Kelvin's teams played with such tenacity on the defensive end of the floor.

Kelvin's team played hard and made free throws, however the brand of Basketball was like watching paint dry at times. I hated and loved Kelvin all the same and wish him the best of luck always.

Sampson was on Jason Whitlock's podcast a couple weeks ago and talked about how his coaching style has changed in the NBA. He mentioned his newfound appreciation for early offense. He said their goal with the Rockets is to get the ball across the timeline in three seconds or less, and they want to find a good shot within the first nine. It'll be interesting to see how much of that he takes with him to Houston.

He will do extremely well at Houston. One of my favorite coaches and I wish him well.

That's on Joe C and no one else. The only way we were keeping James and Reynolds was a HOME RUN HIRE. No way we had a shot with either of them with ANY mid-major coach who neither of these players had heard of. They wanted to play for Kelvin. Period.

As for Stoopified's remarks, on a harshness scale of 1-10 in comparison to some of what I read on ESPN's site about Kelvin, I'll give it a TWO. My guess is some of those are Hoosiers fans, but they were BRUTAL in their remarks.

Even a Home Run hire doesn't guarantee they would have stayed. James stayed in his home state and Reynolds went to Villanova.

Only way we had a great shot at getting those guys was to hire someone who had been at another school recruiting them and was close to being their second or third picks.
