Korcheck confirms he will sign with Arizona

Re: Korcheck to Arizona?

Hate to miss out on him. But, Arizona was probably the favorite all along.

Re: Korcheck to Arizona?

Does that mean Spangler is ours?

Re: Korcheck to Arizona?

There are a couple of other targets as well, should Coleman not work out.
DJ Bennett being another post guy that was offered.
Here's the list that I made before Cousins committed:

But yeah, seems like a strong bet that the Blair scholarship would be going to Spangler.

Re: Korcheck to Arizona?

PointGuardU.com (Arizona site) and the Arizona Wildcat site are also now reporting that Korcheck is going to commit to Arizona.

Re: Korcheck to Arizona?

Wow! I like that scholarship chart they show on the PGU site shown above. Any chance we can copy the format? It's a good visual.

Korchek is going in with 3 5 star big men who are 7-0, 6-10, and 6-8. In addition they have 3 big men already on their roster who are 6-9, 6-10, and 7-1. That's unbelievable size. Korchek better be good to see the light of day on the court.

The chart also shows who they are recruiting in 2013 and 2014.

Too bad we could have used him in the future. Always good to have big guys who will work hard.

I agree with you. But there will always be some question in my mind if we should have used one of our 2012 ships on Korcheck? Now, guess we'll have to answer that question, to some extent, by how well he performs for Zona.

For my part (assuming the transfer rumor is accurate), I would rather use it on Spangler. A year in the program could do wonders for a player like him, and that's before his four to play three eligibility clock kicks in. I see that as a big plus over a guy with two years to play.

I also like local kids, because they usually have more to play for than the average recruit. Since Spangler reportedly wanted to come to OU in the first place, one would think that he will have a lot to prove when it's time for him to take the floor in the C&C.

I'm glad we didnt get him. Arizona can afford to take a chance on him b/c they've already landed Tarczewski, Ashley, and Jerrett...3 top 25 post players and they still have Chol. It doesn't hurt Zona to take a chance on him b/c he is nothing more than a backup plan incase they don't land anyone next year and the majority of them bolt for the NBA. Most likely, he won't play hardly at all at Zona.

Why do local kids have more to play for than average recruits??? I truly hope we don't take him. I don't get the love for this kid. He did nothing at Gonzaga...and even though Gonzaga is a good program...the league they are in is horrible. Spangler is not good enough to hang with the bigs that the big 12 has. He's going to have to guard post players in a league that sends bigs to the NBA year in and year out.

There are so many more talented kids right now that are transferring this year and more are on their way...and this is the kid that you guys want? B/c he's local?

Re: Korcheck to Arizona?

I'm actually to the point where I'd take Coleman, and hold onto the final scholarship. Gives us Osby, Fitz, M'Baye, and Arent inside, as well as Coleman, Neal, and Cam that can all play there as well. I'd let Coleman compete with Cam for the starting 3 spot, and let Fitz/M'Baye fight to see who starts alongside Osby. We could potentially have both Cam and Fitz coming off the bench, along with all our new freshmen guards.

They don't have more to play for, but they're already "home", so if their minutes are limited as a freshman they aren't likely to get homesick and transfer. Look no further than Spangler. I would imagine if he had originally signed with an Oklahoma school and got limited PT he would have stuck it out, but being 2,000 miles from home is a big deal.

What a surprise! You wouldn't be happy with Korcheck or Spangler. Forget the role players, you want nothing but top fifty recruits. We all do. But that is not a realistic expectation.

Do you really have to ask why a local kid has more to play for than the average recruit? If you don't know the answer to that question, nothing I can say will convince you anyway. Truth is, nothing anyone says will convince you that any player or recruit Kruger brings in is good enough. Am I reading you right?

Not trying to pile on, but there does seem to be a trend.

Your right...I wouldn't be happy with either player. You guys sit here and complain about Neal and Arent and you want to add another Neal and another Arent. Its like you guys like being at the bottom of the big 12. I'm not happy settling for players that could only possibly start for TCU and T.T. and knowing that they wouldn't start for any other big 12 team. My expectations are that if K-st, Baylor, Colorado, UNLV, aTm, Houston, Providence, Iowa St....can land unanimous top 100 players than we should be able to land 1.

Local kids have nothing more to play for than any other recruit...that is just you giving yourself an excuse to want them to come here. Xavier Henry, Daniel Orton, Shelden Williams, Darnell Jackson, Etan Thomas, Keiton Page, JR Giddens...These guys wouldn't have given anymore here than they gave some where else. If Henry or Orton came here...its not like they would have worked any harder or felt like they had to prove something more. If Neal was at Kansas right now...he wouldn't feel like he had anything less to prove or he wouldn't work just as hard to become a better player. If you think that if Spangler comes here that he's going to work even harder than he did at Gonzaga or that he's going to become a better player just b/c he came home is just silly

A trend so obvious it reeks of a personal agenda with every post he makes.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I will support that belief with every part of my being. But when a poster finds fault with every player and recruit under Lon Kruger's watch, I'm not going to stay quiet and allow the carnage to continue. I did that for several months before I finally had enough.
