It is so refreshing to see the plan Bs and system that Lon Kruger and staff have with recruiting. It seemed like the previous staff chased stars and rankings and did not always have realistic plan B.

I will admit that it was fun seeing us in on some of the top kids every year in 2009 and 2010 but I also know that Oklahoma needs to focus on high 3 and 4 star kids who are 3-4 year guys as well as transfers. That is our bread and butter and I think you look to add a regional high 4/5 star kid every two or so years to go with your core. It looks like that is what Kruger and company are doing!

I think this class is really solid and will keep elevating OU basketball!

Well said! It is great to see the recruiting process managed and not off the shoetops.

I laugh sometimes when people get completely wound up about this kid or that kid (i.e. Shake) and when OU doesn't pull a big 5* kid they are in on. Do your research on college basketball the last 6-8 years and see how many teams are being highly successful (i.e. Final Fours and Elite Eights) with 3* and 4* kids.....Kruger is loading up with these type of four year guys....guys who will be together for four years and grow together for four years.

I realize the elite teams like UK and KU are pretty dominant and load up with 5* guys and one and dones.....but we aren't the type of team that will load up like that right now...and may never be.....but we are an attractive place to play for quality players.....Kruger is bringing in those exact guys.....we compete, we make the tourney....now, hopefully, we will start winning games in the tournament.

I don't want to beat a dead horse but as James Carville says, when picking up gals at a bar, if you want success "Go ugly, early."

It'd be nice if you could take home a supermodel but while you and every other guy in the bar is hitting on her some good prospects may be leaving. In other words, be realistic, and with a little confidence, perhaps a makeover (weight training, etc) Cinderella could end up being a star.

I'm just as pleased with getting guys with intelligence and good character.- something Capel dismally failed at.

Capel, Orlando Taliaferro and AAU basketball put me off on College basketball 4 years ago, but Kruger and his teams have made it fun watching basketball again. I still do not like the 1 and done rule and its impact and the culture it has created in the game.

Who says these were plan B guys. Maybe they were co A guys. Nobody on this board knows for sure. :ez-roll:

Hopefully one of these years the excitement will be in March & April when it matters instead of October when it's meaningless. Still not a singe post season victory under Kruger.

Very true but I believe we'll get those March /April wins soon. Fortunately, we are not saddled with the embarrassment and program destruction of the Capel regime. We can all be thankful for that!

It all matters. The whole season matters to a real basketball fan.

To listen to your whining, you'd think Kruger had been here ten years with no postseason wins.

There's 80 starters on sweet 16 teams. It's a reasonable assumption that to be a legitimate sweet 16 team you need 5 top 75 recruits on your roster.

The track record of cobbling together sub 100 recruits into a legit team is poor. This is why Sampson was Mr. 1 and done most years.

Total BS. Prove this is even reasonably close!

No problem. Piece of cake. Buddy Hield is our highest rated guy on the roster. According to the official OU roster he was ranked #86 out of high school.

Go back 40 years and tell me how many times OU reached the sweet 16 with our best player rated that low. Answer = zero.

Now look what happened when OU had Blake Griffin & Willie Warren on the roster. When they had Hollis Price & Ace McGhee on the roster. Boom. Final 4 and elite 8.

Anybody with an ounce of knowledge knows this.

You put an absurd amount of confidence in recruiting rankings. Ever year there are players all over the country who prove that they are way better than rivals, yahoo, and ESPN gave them credit for.

You're evidence is nothing but anecdotal.

Kruger has only coached in two tournament games at ou, both appearances came earlier than most fans allowed themselves to hope for.

If all you care about is recruiting class rankings why don't you go hover around Calipari, and soak in as much of his sleaze as you like.

So according to Boca the Pistons need to give back most if not all of their hardware as well.

Wichita State went to a Final four 2 years ago, how many top 75 guys did they have?

By your logic they should have had 5 top 20 recruits on their roster.

2010 Duke Atlantic Coast South (1) National Champions
Butler Horizon West (5) National Runner-Up
Michigan State Big Ten Midwest (5)
West Virginia Big East East (2)
2011 Connecticut Big East West (3) National Champions
Butler Horizon Southeast (8) National Runner-Up
Kentucky Southeastern East (4)
VCU Colonial Southwest (11)
2012 Kentucky Southeastern South (1) National Champions
Kansas Big 12 Midwest (2) National Runner-Up
Ohio State Big Ten East (2)
Louisville Big East West (4)
2013 Louisville Big East Midwest (1) National Champions
Michigan Big Ten South (4) National Runner-Up
Syracuse Big East East (4)
Wichita State Missouri Valley West (9)
2014 Connecticut American East (7) National Champions
Kentucky Southeastern Midwest (8) National Runner-up
Florida Southeastern South (1)
Wisconsin Big Ten West (2)

Look at the Final Fours since 2010.....the blue blood teams on the list had those top tier guys...........Butler, VCU and Wichita State say hello.

None of those teams have the star power of the other teams they played against. Wichita State has a team full of guys just like the type you say cannot get us far in the tournament.

I'm fine with getting solid, athletic, long guards and athletic forwards......now we are adding in the size we were lacking....this team is being built the right way....and it was never going to happen over night.....we have over achieved but now we are adding the pieces to break beyond the "over achieve" and into the "expected to win" category.

EVERYONE should be fine with that.......boca.....like I said before, hide in your hole in DFW...go root for Baylor and SMU....stay off OUr board with your BS negative, anti-OU and anti-Kruger posts. no one cares about your opinion.

How many Top 75 HS players did Tubbs have on his 1988 FF team? Heck, after Wayman left...not sure we had another Top75 type kid until Jeff Webster...and those were some of the best years in OU b-ball history!! We were a top 3 programs for about 3-4 years at that time. Most all of his success was from the juco ranks, so it's a little tricky. But I don't think many (if any) of the juco kids were top 50 kids in HS> Anhtony Cade would have been since he was a McD's AA, but he committed and never made it in due to grades.

Some of the other HS players were very good but I have no idea where they were rated; Tim McCallister,Tony Martin, Brent Price, Terry Evans, Damon "Slim" Patterson, Terrence Mullins, Kermit Holmes, Sieger, Stacey King, Choo Kennedy, Bryan Sallier (I think he was a highly rated TE in football but was also well thought of in b-ball too), Kiki Hicks?? Anyone know??
