He's also taking his official to Kentucky this weekend....

He's solid on four schools, Kentucky, Florida, Duke, and Texas. That leaves us competing with Kansas, Oklahoma State, and the rest for an official.

For what it is worth, I am hearing this is all a big smoke screen. I hear he is done deal to Kentucky and everything else is for show. Hearing the same on the Harrison twins. Once these kids have a chance encounter with Drake and Jay-Z on their recruiting visits, they feel like it is a sign that they should be at UK.

Not am by no way defending Cal, but can you really blame kids for wanting to play for the defending national champions, who send 4-5 players to the nba a year?

I hear you but you are buying into their marketing spin. Fact is the vast majority of those guys go to the NBA whether they go to Kentucky or New Mexico State.

I'm sure Kentucky's fan support and facilities are as good as it gets. And I hand it to Calipari for being a great recruiting machine. Obviously finding ways to connect these recruits on official visits with hip-hop superstars is not by accident although I am sure it is spun that way to the NCAA.

They are very hot right now. I think they had the stars align last year- a few one and dones that didn't go the year before (Terrance Jones and Doron Lamb). A mature, skilled senior in Darius Miller. Two freshmen who were way above average even for freshmen all-Americans in Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Anthony Davis. And another very good freshman in Teague.

There will be some years where egos will be too much and the team will disappoint. The recruiting may slow down some then. But I admit, they have a great story to sell right now.

You couldn't possibly be more right. If Rajon Rondo continues at his pace, he will actually be the first "great" NBA player that came out of Kentucky since Dan Issel, and he left the program 42 years ago. Blake Griffin already has as many or more NBA All-Star appearances than all but two players (Rondo and Antoine Walker with 3 each) to have come out of Kentucky since Issel.

Cal's doing a great job of turning these kids into pros. If Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe, Orton, Knight, Davis, Teague, and Gilchrist don't go there....they would have no shot of being drafted. ;)

Come to Kentucky where we don't care if you go to class b/c you only have to be eligible after the first semester, then you can go on to the NBA.

On one hand, if you're really into recruiting...its awesome...but I think it would take the enjoyment out of the program to never have any returning players. Senior night for Kentucky is going to be a one man show or a no man show year in and year out.

The biggest thing about Cal is like you illustrated he's not turning these guys into pros, he's giving them a holding cell until they can go pro. None of his 4 star recruits are getting drafted....

I do give him credit for getting a bunch of stars to play together. Julius Randle will be a pro. He will go to Kentucky because the have a track record of not screwing pro players up.
