“What they’ve done is raise the bar,” he said. “We have to do a better job with in-game entertainment and making a fan-friendly experience. We’ll keep working with that ... but it still comes down to winning some ballgames and we’ll do that, too.”
Hear, hear. I mean, Thunder up, and all that, but as I've posted here before, the one Thunder game I attended, an early-round playoff game last season, was one of the most miserable game experiences I've ever had.
The team's fun to watch and the crowd's great, but the incessant barrage of turned-up-to-11 film clips and music snippets was hard to bear. The environment and presentation seemed designed for 13-year-olds with ADHD.
I have to believe it's the team and not all the extraneous and annoying nonsense that's bringing in the crowds. Please, Coach Kruger -- don't emulate that approach.
Of course, given OU's refusal in recent years to schedule home games over the holidays, it shouldn't much matter to me what they do. I may never get to see the Sooners play at LNC again.
I agree. I prefer a good college game. A close college game with a large crowd is one of my favorite sports experiences. It is even better with a great student section.
