Kruger's biggest coaching mistake this year

This is what I think. If Kruger does something that I don't agree with or I think is a mistake, Kruger is right and I am wrong. I may not understand why he is right and I am wrong. But, he is right and I am wrong.

When my fellow posters take a position that they are right and Kruger is wrong, I may offer up alittle static.

You are Troll. Please just leave. You haven't been around for a while and when you finally show up it is once again something negative. I don't need it or want it in my life. Life must suck in your world because it is always about the negative.

How about the positive. Cousins got experience. Sam Grooms being benched made him work harder and he has played at an All Big XII level the last three games. Maybe Kruger knows just a tad bit more about basketball, psychology and human nature than you do. Maybe there is a reason Kruger makes 2 Million Dollars a year or whatever he makes and you make whatever you make that is likely a lot less than Two Million Dollars per year.

Secondly, Osby is a pretty good player. It would be nice to have a guy like him around all the time. But, the rest of last years bunch aren't any good. Fitz, Pledger, Cam, and Grooms have had their turn. They didn't accomplish anything. They are all probably causing more problems with team chemistry than they are worth. Kruger has moved on past last years bunch as far as he can at this point.
Sometimes I wonder if you're even an OU fan.

Are you directing your remarks at me? I didn't start a thread about Kruger's coaching mistakes. My position is that no one posting on this board is qualified to evaluate Kruger's performence. Do have a different position or just a case of the jock itch.

I think he was talking to abd

We are a better team and will be a better team in the future because of the minutes Cousins got early in the season.

The problem with playing a upside guy who looks lost is we need a point guard now. I don't think Cousins will ever make a point guard, and right now I don't see much skill with the ball handling or shooting to get very excited about him. Could develop, but he has a long way to go.

lol. :slow clap

Cousins needs only 3 things.

1) That proverbial amnesia that good players have after a bad play.

2) If he has to play back-up point guard, work on his ball handling in the off season.

2) To be able to play his natural position. I look forward to seeing him play at the 2.

Cousins meltdown has been epic and it cann't be sugar coated. But, in perspective, Buddy is a 20 year old freshman and Hornbeak is coming out of a program that was competing at a much higher level than where Cousins played.

Buddy and Hornbeak had some built in immunity to the woes all but the elite freshmen encounter when transitioning from high school to college ball. Cousins in alot of ways is the stereo typical freshman while looking worse compared to a couple of kids that were better prepared coming in.

Wasn't the majority arguement before the season started that high school to Big 12 was too big a jump for freshman to come in and start or play major roles? Well, that arguement is right sometimes. Cousins seems to be the example of that.

Cousins is in a bad spot right now and Kruger will have his work cut out for him to bring him back. But, Coach has already done a couple of nice turn arounds.

I thought Cousins played better when he was playing off the ball. He is just to out of control to be the primary ball handler.

I think we need to use Jelon as our backup point guard when Cousins comes in. I really think he needs to play off the ball right now. Let him work out his shooting and attacking off the dribble in the half court and leave the work as primary ball handler for the offseason. It is kind of the lesser of 2 evils until his confidence is back.

Since my opinions can sometimes be off, I do enjoy looking back on this thread and being spot on. Grooms has really come up big for us down the stretch.

I'm not sure not giving Grooms enough minutes has cost us any games this year, so it seems like a moot point. The main problem with Grooms was a lack of offensive production (prior to the last 3 games), and Cousins has more upside in that regard. Nonetheless, Cousins is a freshmen and he's had some obvious freshmen moments, but these experiences will benefit the program going forward. IMO, they haven't cost us any games so far this year.

Grooms is clearly the best option at PG right now with his offensive production suddenly becoming extremely good. I hope Grooms, Pledger, and Hornbeak can keep up the scoring trend because we'll be hard to beat if they do.

If this Grooms played from day obe I agree. This Grooms has been a shock to everybody. Includin Sam Grooms himself.

Grooms is doing a great job of scoring while defenders are treating him like he has leprosy. If he can convince them to start guarding him, his scoring will probably regress toward the mean.

That will be fine too if they continue to defend him. It is not shooting well enough to draw a defender that caused his problems.
