Texas Southern at home in horrible choking fashion. Yeesh.

didn't Texas Southern just knock off the Spartans ?

Yes, in Lansing of all things.

Here's the kicker. That was one of only two wins Texas Southern has had all season. They were 2-9 going into the K-State game.

Mike Davis the guy that replaced Knight at Indiana then went to UAB is the coach at Tex southern.

The big XII is really sad. Iowa St might be the best team but probably kansas will roll over everybody like always. Sad.

Sad that it's by far the best conference in the country?

The only problem I have with this is our best teams haven't lived up to it, or rather haven't really beaten any good teams. We lost ours to UW and Wiscy, UT lost to Stanford and UK, KU lost to Temple and UK, ISU lost to Maryland. I don't see very many great non-conf wins. A lot of good wins, but the Big 12 did not do a good job of beating other conference contenders

lol @ this. Who has anybody beat?

Tell you what pick anything you want to wager that when the smoke clears after the first weekend of the ncaa tournament the Big XII has the most teams standing. There is a better chance the entire conference is eliminated than having the best performance.

The Big 12 has 2 to 6 teams fewer than the other big conferences, so mathematically, that's a pretty bad bet to take.

Looking at those unbiased things called statistics, the Big 12 is so far and away the number 1 RPI conference, that there's a bigger gap between 1 and 2 than there is between 2 and 5.

K-State is one of the 3 teams in the Big 12 that hasn't been impressive so far. Out of 10. What conference do you suppose is better? Is the Big 12 the only team that has a team that would do something like lose to a bottom-feeder like Texas Southern? Oh no wait, Michigan State just lost to the same team. The SEC has 1 good team. The ACC has 4. The Pac 12 has 2 or 3. The American Conference you like to pump up as being "for real" is the 8th ranked RPI conference behind the A-10. If the Big 12 isn't good, then who the heck is?

It is also a bad bet because you are betting against five other conferences. Ultimately Boca is a prick Taft simply gets off on upsetting other people

1) the Big 12 has 2/3 the teams the the ACC doe, and fewer than other major conferences.
2) having the most top 16 teams doesn't make you the best conference. A 20 team conference with teams from 17-26 would be the best conference.
3) the best teams are often upset (or get bad draws). Even if the computer rankins showing the Big 12 is far better than every other conference were 100% accurate, there's still a very good change another conference has more teams due to random variation.

I read that KSU missed 2 of 8 free throws down the stretch and then threw away an inbound pass under their own basket with a 1 second left...which gave Texas Southern the chance for the GW shot....ouch.

Because I attended OU, graduated from OU, had basketball season tickets for OU, follow OU, attend OU games when they are near where I live.

You can be an objective OU fan without being a drooling homer.

First off you are using average conference RPI. Averages are meaningless in life if you have ambition. Does a person who lives in Highland Park really care what average home prices are in DFW? Does a person who wants to live in Highland Park care what median income is in DFW? Does a student who wants to be accepted to Stanford really care what the average GPA or SAT scores are? Of course not on all counts.

When the dust clears there is no way the Big XII will be better than the ACC or Big 10. The measurement is the NCAA tournament. Nobody is playing to see who has the best median RPI.

I'll pose this question though, do you think the Big 12 has a team that is in your top 8 right now? I mean I don't think a Big 12 team, as of now, is better than UK, Duke, Wisconsin, UVA, Louisville, Arizona. After that it's kinda wide open. Gonzaga is really good too.
