Redshirt candidate?
I believe Lon said on the Sports Animal yesterday that he will be redshirting.

ABD, Kelvin had already started transitioning to recruiting better high school players over jucos towards the end of his time here. Remember his last recruiting class (ranked #4 in the country) had damion James, Scottie Reynolds, Keith Clark, and tony Crocker as high level high school guys. Once again, the teams that are winning national titles are not doing it with jucos. Ou can’t recruit at that level so I like grabbing an elite juco to fill a need but nothing more.
I believe crocker ( I could be wrong on him tho) and def keith clark were not in the last class.
Jeremy mayfield, or something close you that, went to UAB ultimately, was the third guy
Kuath May be a great athlete, but I contend strength and girth are the most onderrated physical attributes in basketball. The guy weighing 50 lbs more than his opponent has a big advantage... assuming everything else is fairly even.
I honestly think the 173 pounds is old information, but even if Kur weighs 200, he’s going to have a tough time playing inside in the Big 12. JMHO.

Crocker was definitely in that class. He stuck to his commitment when others didn't, despite the coaching change. Clark was in that class, too, and he stuck to his commitment, but didn't last all four years.
This info's easily accessed online.
Really? I'm surprised but that's good. He's got to spend most of that year in the weight room. If he can enter the 19-20 season at 220 lbs of muscle in addition to that jumping ability, work on a little jump hook, he could be really good for us. I just didn't see how he would help much next year at all.
I think this is a very positive thing for Kuath more than anyone, if he does redshirt... OU has a log jam and I am kind of interested in the "potential" of Kuath and Polla after more development.
Hopefully Polla will make a leap this year but if he doesn't, maybe they can turn Freeman into a backup for McNeace. But if not, I'd be fine with playing Manek and Doolittle together when McNeace isn't in the game. Point is, I think they've got the bodies to piece together 10 minutes per game when McNeace is resting.
Correct. OU’s roster in Capel’s first season. I think the only player he brought in that year who was not already committed was Bobby Maze, a late season addition who transferred the following season.

The thing I remember the most is how Damion James refused to talk to Capel on the phone, so he had someone else pretend to be him while he was in the background laughing and telling him what to say. I never liked Damion much after that.
Yeah, I remember Damion James doing that. Low class move for sure. Capel did also bring in Tony Crocker and Keith Clark, but lost James, Scottie Reynolds, and Jeremy Mayfield.

I knew Capel signed Crocker and Clark. I could be wrong, but I thought they committed to OU before Sampson left.
In any event, Tony and Keith were two of my favorite players back them ‘cause they stayed the course when the Texas rat and his two buddies abandoned ship.
You’re right. Both Crocker and Clark committed to Sampson. Clark committed as a freshman or sophomore and suddenly quit growing, but OU honored their offer. He stayed at OU a couple of years before transferring, but he never did much in college.
Wasn't Darrell Arthur close to signing with Sampson but flipped to KU when he was fired?
That was Kyle hardrick. Keith Clark was a 6-8 point guard out of MWC/PC. He led PC to the state title his senior year. He was an incredible talent but allergic to college.
To tack on, think about how close ou was to a natty (or two)...consider rosters with Scottie, damion james, Blake, Clark, Crocker, Willie Warren, AJ, Taylor, longar, pattillo, Cade, et al. That is some ridiculous talent right there.
clark played the 4 at OU
