At the start of the season, I said something to the effect in a post that I thought the team, as a whole, would be fairly unique in its ability to shoot from the 3 and free throw line. But, this statement was made at a time that I thought Whitney would be leading our team.
Well, they might be really unique, and that's without Whit.
I can't remember when I have seen a shooting performance, by a team, from the 3 like the Texas game. That was unbelievable. Texas shot 70% or close to it and got out scored in the half. Unreal.
I think it is fairly common that the noise and visual clutter of a college game (big arena, big scoreboards, spacious openings with fan movement behind the rim etc) can effect a kids focus and equillbrium. I thought this sort of explained Vinings inability to shoot. Similiarly, I have always thought Sharane had equilibrium problems in the limited minutes she got. It seems to me that as she has gotten more minutes she has adjusted to the college game environment and really gotten better. She looked terrific during the Texas game. Hope this continues.
