3 seed in the east. A little surprised at the 3 seed. UVA 1 seed, NOVA is the 2 seed with VCU being the 6 seed. Thoughts on if we can get/keep a 3 seed?

I haven't been paying attention, but after the last loss to KSU, not sure how we can be a three seed either. Unless everybody else in that part of the bracket is losing games too.

Or maybe the Big 12 is finally getting some hoops respect.

Those kind of tournament projections for OU are showing up everywhere. Maybe some of these guys really do know what they're talking about (occasionally).

I think it's because we are 10-4 against RPI top 50 teams, who else has 10 (or more) of those wins? That's impressive and if we can beat KU at home and win a game in the tourney it could be 12 by the time it's selection sunday

I would love that bracket that he has us in. I don't think there is any team in there that we don't have at least a pretty fair chance at beating.

The 3/4 line is also softer than the 2/3 line. We're competing with the likes of North Carolina, Louisville, Utah, and Iowa State for a 3 seed. UNC and Louisville just lost last night and we have a chance to distance ourselves from Iowa State in Ames.

If we go 3-1 (lose at Ames) and win the conf tourney we might be able to hold on to a 3.

I like this team but they are going to have to prove to me that they can be playing on the second weekend of the NCAA tourney. When they are focused and playing well, they can probably beat almost any team not named Kentucky. When they are not, they can lose to K-State TWICE!

Sad…but true.

I'm really surprised at the amount of respect OU is getting this year. As a person who has watched nearly every minute this season, I haven't seen a 3 seed type team. More like 4-6. 10-4 against top 50 is awesome, but how many of those wins are super impressive, seems as if most of those wins are against the teams ranked 20-50? What's our best win?

Don't get me wrong, I would love to get a 3 seed. 3 seed is such a better spot than a 4 or 5. Based on what the projections are, I think if we finish 3-1 and at least make the championship game in the Big 12, we will probably get a 3.

Find me a bunch of teams that have as many Top 50 wins, play in a better conference or have a better SOS than OU.

People around here critique this team so harshly. We're damn good and deserve a 3-seed.

I tend to agree, colston. I just think those eight losses make the average fan give this team less respect than it deserves.

This was the crux of Grantland's article yesterday. OU's got a strong resume, but they don't jump out to you as a potential top 10 team.

Given the rest of the landscape, and assuming we finish strong, I agree. This team's best is really really good...however, our talent is inconsistent. Just depends on what OU squad shows up.

We are 6-1 in our last 7 games in the toughest conference in the nation. Our only loss was a three point loss on the road on a last second shot. If we keep playing at this level, we will end up no lower than a 4 seed.

We can be better if we 6-1 in the next 7.

Bingo. The committee consistently rewards teams with strong records against the RPI top 50. And rightfully so. They are looking for teams that that have consistently proven they can beat other tournament level competition. Few, if any teams, in the country have proven they are capable of that more than OU.

If OU can finish the season at least 3-1 and not completely lay an egg in the conference tournament, I think a 3 seed is very likely.

And we can fall off some if we lose to ISU, KU, and again in the Big 12 Tourney.

Like was said above, our resume is impressive, but I still don't feel like we we're a top 10 team. I doubt there is anybody on this board that will definitely pencil us in to the Sweet 16, or possibly an Elite 8. We just don't jump off the page as that type of team.

And I'm saying this without looking, but we haven't beaten a lot of top teams. Most of our wins are over good, solid teams that help our resume, but it's not like we currently have 2-3 wins against top 20 teams. We have one win against a current 3 seed (ISU in Norman) and one win against a current 5 seed (Baylor in Norman). Just depends how you look at the whole SOS thing.

Edit: Make that two wins over 5 seeds. Butler is a 5 as well.

We're one of seven teams with four or more wins over teams in the RPI Top 25.

So other than the 1 and 2 seeds, no one really fits your criteria.

This right here. I think we can almost cruise to a 4 seed if we finish 3-1....no matter what happens in the Big 12 tournament. However, when we start mixing our resume with those teams that are battling it out on the 2/3 line, then I think we fall short....not because of our lack of wins, but because of our bad losses.

As for Louisville, they have a gaudy record, but their resume is hollow. They are 5-5 vs the top 50, but they ZERO bad losses. Same with Carolina. Unfortunately for us, we have the potential to have FOUR bad losses at seasons end....especially if K-State keeps tanking it. Let this be a lesson to all of those people who said our losses to Creighton, Washington, and K-State shouldn't matter....bullsh!t. They're dead wrong....those losses almost always come back to bite you when you are trying to get a high seed.
