Aaryn is an excellent offensive player as we all know. We have 1 1/2 years to find a player, or players, who can make up for the loss of her offensive production. I think Sharane will be one of those players but I'm not comfortable that we have someone on the roster at this point to take up the slack.

Recruiting great offensive players is critical. Ideally, Sherri can find 2 or 3 great scoring post players as well as a couple of guards.

My hope is that Maddie can make up for the loss of Morgan but Kornet doesn't have the quickness to create her own shot that Aaryn has. If she can become a really good catch and shoot scorer, that will definitely help.

Haven't seen too much of your younger players but Sharane is a good player that has great potential. I tend to favor all out hustle and she has a way to motivate her team. I also like Hook for her quick shot and with more experience could really be a factor. Gonna be hard though to replace a pure pull up jump shot that even Griner can't block!

I think Maddie may be the heir apparent. What little we saw of her though, she is probably going to be a slash and dish. Take what the defense gives her. Derica coming in can score, but will she be D-1 ready. Gioya Carter can create off the dribble, has excellent quickness and has been working on her arc shooting, she may suprise all of us.

Don't want to think about where will be with AE right now. It's not a pretty picture and we don't know who is going to be on the roster. So there is hope.

Are you talking about NEXT year? If so, Hook is only a junior, we don't lose her next year.

Sherri always seems to find a speedy guard, whether it's Jenna Plumley, Danielle Robinson or Aaryn Ellenberg.

And I think we have real talent in our injured reserves section right now :)

We need a Super star/ All big 12 type of player after next season if were going to be a decent/great team. Gioya Carter could be a good player for us. I don't see Derica getting big minutes, she wasn't even nominated for the Micky D game. I think she will be the 2nd coming of Jenny Vinning/Alexann Yancey

Although some have had limited time I don't see anyone on our present squad, injured or not, that can fill this role(Atleast not right now). Electric players like this don't come along very often. I was still in Vegas when she was in HS and was very excited to have her come here. Sort of like I was after watching Demarco for two years in HS(They went to the same HS). Some players are just special.

I don't think we have that player either. Hopefully, we will soon.

KC, and Norm I have to respectively disagree. Granted we don't have many, but I think Maddie will become that "electric" player we want to see. Just with her limited playing time this season, I saw a kid who knows how to attack the rim "properly". Her spacing on drives is excellent and with experience she will suck in the defense allowing passes to the wings for three point opportunities. Her length will disrupt passing lanes and she can post up smaller guards. Now I will agree, she doesn't have the quickness yet to create that quick pull up off the dribble, but I think she has that extra oomph that we are looking for after Aaryn departs us. JMHO

Roc, I really like Maddie's potential but, with her very limited playing time, I didn't see her as a 20 point per night scorer. Of course, I certainly hope she improves with time and can become an offensive go-to player like Aaryn. With her height, she should be able to shoot over most guards.

If Maddie comes back healthy, I can see no limits. I think she has the quickness, but not the experience. I see her as a very raw talent, but someone who could be as much of an influence as any player in the game.

Is Maddie quicker than Morgan? I really don't know the answer to that.

I think Maddie is equal in quickness, her strength is she is more in control on drives to the rim than Morgan is. Morgan right now has incredible basketball smarts and plays within herself. She has become a very good defender and all around player. Maddie reminds me of a young Stacy Dales, no she probably won't be a 20 point scorer but she won't have to be, if she makes the kids around her better.

I understand we haven't seen a lot of her yet, but to get the starting nod as a freshman, tells me she is going to be special, just a gut feeling.

The comments that Coales' son made seem appropriate. Maddie has long legs that enable her to blow past an opponent as well as to jump higher. In her last couple of games, she, like Morgan sometimes does and DRob did, likes to keep dribbling when she brings it up, going straight to the basket. When Morgan or DRob did it, they were running. She seemed to take two steps past the top of the key and be there to lay it calmly in. It doesn't take long to take two steps, and it doesn't look quick. Yet, nobody could get in front of her, and nobody could keep up with her.

Pull up jumper. As he also said, and it was obvious, she drove to within about five feet of the basket, stopped, and jumped. She released a floater that went straight through the net. She was able to get so much higher than the person guarding her that she was playing six inches taller. They couldn't begin to block it.

She's deceptive. Being so lanky, she doesn't look like she is moving that well. She is just blowing past the opposition. When she started, that was what enabled her to go from her one point per game to ten points per game average. She found out what she could do, and nobody could stop her. I don't remember Maddie ever actually being stopped. She just didn't do it on every trip down the court. If she did, I'm not sure how the defense would have to adjust. I think she is what would have opened it up for everyone else.

In my opinion it is EXTREMELY hard to make a living driving to the rim in D-1 basketball unless you have blazing speed like DRob has. Defenders are just too quick. If Maddie can improve her outside shooting and, as Roc said, find open players with sharp passing skills, I will be happy.
