Little brother is just too cute

With all due respect to ByronHouston Sweaty Palms (who is a very good poster), I say let them have their celebrations. They are Oklahomans too and they haven't had much to cheer about in recent years.

Having said that, I have and will always consider OSU to be an irrelevant program.....as compared to OU in virtually every sport (save wrestling and golf). That is why I don't get too caught up if they go crazy about sweeping one of the worst OU teams (record-wise) in my lifetime. Next year, I assume we will return to the natural order of things in basketball....it's to be expected.

Agreed, Underwood is a very good hire. He's showing how great a coach he is with this OSU team.

However, that celebration bordered on clown show. The campus newspaper has the "their's only one last place team in the big 12" but at the end of the game Carroll is crying and Forte is kissing the Bedlam trophy. When did the winning team start waving the bedlam trophy and kissing it after a game?

It reminded me of when I was a kid. My older brother (I was the baby) beat me at everything but eventually I could beat him at basketball. When I won, I rubbed it in his face and sucked all the enjoyment out of it. When he won, he just went inside. Why? Because he was expected to win, and I wasn't.

He also benefited greatly by the players that clown Travis recruited. Probably 95% of collegiate coaches could have exceeded Travis' results with those players.

Very true but Underwood wins wherever he goes. His teams play tough defense too. HIs style of play is very much like Eddie Suttons so it's a good fit for OSU.

Bounce and B.O.B, I agree with what you are saying about the excessive celebration. I didn't address it in my previous post because we should be used to the inferiority complex that OSU fans have...they don't have enough fans like ByronHouston who posted above.

When I was a moderator on OUInsider many years back, I used to get PMs from some OU fans who wanted OSU fans banned simply because they disagreed with their opinions. Their argument was along the lines of "We get banned on OSU boards just for respectfully disagreeing with them." My response was usually something like "So, because OSU moderators are thin-skinned and show their inferiority complex, the OU Mods should act the same way?"

Let the OSU fans and media get their digs in now. It will make beating them so much more enjoyable...but I will find no shame in beating them 50% of the time in most years...would have loved that this year.

I agree. Their 15 minutes of fame is fine by me. I expected to lose, and was surprised we kept it as close as we did. Honestly, as the game played out I was more disappointed we lost than if we had been blown out.

An aggie on twitter told me he was savoring that win because OU didn't play like a 9 win team. I thought that was comical. At the end of the day we are still just a 9 win team. Lol

Always good to sweep your rival, it should be celebrated. I'm not saying that there should be tears or court stormings. But loud obnoxious celebrating is always held in high regard.

Also I think it's worth noting that OSU has won 9/10 with 5 of those being conference road games.

Dignon, I have a feeling the majority of posters on this board understand why Poke fans are celebrating the sweep. You have a right to be happier now that Underwood has the program going in a better direction.

I'm just glad to see posters like you back on this board again. Everyone but Byron all but disappeared during the last few seasons when OU dominated the series. BHSP, to his credit, never left. He's one of us now. Actually, I have a feeling he is a closet OU fan. ;)

Anyway, good to see you back! And, yes, I know you have stopped by from time to time, but the frequency of your visits have not been even close to what they were once when the series was more competitive.

Congrats on the wins! Enjoy them now, though, because that will change next season when Forte and likely Evans won't be around anymore.

I know it's not popular, and I am by no means a poke apologist. But I gotta give it up to them, they are having a pretty impressive year. They have good pieces and I actually enjoy watching them sometimes. I've always liked Forte and how he brings it, and the transformation of some of their players under the new coach is impressive. I also like the two freshmen. Yes, we could have and probably should have beaten them twice. But how many teams that we've beaten could say that about OU? It was more fun talking about them when we were dominating them, but you can't deny their transformation. Winning at pesky Manhattan was balls.

I dont hate the players on this poke team or the coaches. So they don't bother me a bit. I was actually kind of excited that Underwood was able to stop the nosedive - good for them! I thought he was a good hire from the moment they announced it.

My only consistent beef with OSUx is their fans. Some of them are very sucky. I couldnt care less about the "bedlam record" thing.

I totally agree about OSU fans as a whole. Their suckiness comes from an extreme, deep seated hatred for OU! The hatred is not only real, it's worse than anything we have ever experienced from the Whorns, the Cornhuskers back in the day, or any of our rivals over the years.

To set the record straight, I don't include Byron (admittedly my favorite Poke poster) and Dignon, along with a handful of others and some friends I have here, in that group.

If anyone been down to Alabama and see first hand the hate between the tigers and tide, it is really kinda sad..it goes beyond sports.

Ada I don't know where you live but nothing is as bad as Texas hate for OU. Maybe it's a different type of hate. I never sensed OU/Neb was hate, just a great rivalry. When we moved from Edmond to The Woodlands in '83 I was completely flabbergasted by the hatred by Texas of all things OU. Flabbergasted. I mean I know why I guess. But it's completely unhinged and even embarrassing sometimes. The things i've seen outside of sports(which are supposed to be fun).. Vandalism. Trashed resumes. Inability to have normal conversation with many so called professional and upstanding people/fans without them getting mad and making things awkward. It is unhinged and completely irrational in way too many cases. Now, of course I have many horns that are friends. But Texas is a big state ;]

I will say though that if Texas Tech were any more of a rival heaven help us. They may hate us more than anybody.

Yes, I can see how ones experiences with fans of a school where an intense rivalry exists may see it differently than what I described with OSU.

To some degree, I based that on my own personal encounters with fans from KU, UT and OSU when I used to frequent their fan boards several years ago. KU and UT fans were tolerant and even accepting of my presence. OSU fans were not. I was never banned on a Poke board. But, some OU fans who were said it was for nothing more than admitting they were Sooners.

Things may have changed since then. I haven't been on a fan board of any of those schools in two years or more.

I've always been on the board. Last season there wasn't much to post about but agony. It's not a mismatch on the sideline anymore so there's that.

OSU has a talented roster and recruiting class coming back. Jeff Carroll is quite a player. Solomon has major impacts on games. The freshman that are playing have some talent. Rumors are that Sima will give OSU a shot blocker that can protect the rim.

The recruiting class is good. OSU is currently over signed so there will be some tough choices to make roster wise.

Carroll is really good, so he's a solid piece to build around next year. Solomon is a lot better than I thought he'd be, more of a blue collar guy who does a nice job down low.

The key to your season may rest on Jawun's return for another season. What's the scuttle but around Stillwater on what he is going to do?

Mitch Solomon is exactly what quite a few said he would be last year - a widebody who can eat up some paint and hold up his arms. You can work with that, especially in a tight zone. Underwood's no dummy.

Would've been interesting to see what Ford could've accomplished with both Forte and Evans on the floor at the same time. I think they played four games together, if that many.

Evans is such a stud. He makes them tick. He will be very hard to replace. I like watching them play. They put a ton of pressure on the defense.

It's been an impressive turnaround. We outplayed their butts up and down the floor, just not quite from tip to tail. The natural order will be restored next year......maybe in a couple weeks in KC.

this has been my saving grace all thru these conference woes. our kids have played with and beyond just about every team on our schedule save Florida. Shows me they are not that far off.

Bryon's the only one I give props to. The others ran and hid for years and now they return, during OU's worst season in many years. Our fans are giving them props, but did the aggie fans come and give us any props in recent years? Not a chance.

Let them enjoy their moment. They're up and we're down. It's unusual and won't last probably beyond this season. Next year we'll be top 3 or 4 in the conference and, if Evans leaves, they'll be where we are this year and they'll have just the memories of a pretty good season.

One good thing about being almost 60 years old (well, in eight months, anyway) is that I will never live long enough to see the football rivalry in Bedlam get even remotely close. It's almost that way in men's basketball, even with this year's little "bump in the road." OU still leads it by 39 games, which mean's we'd have to get swept every year in the regular season until I am on the brink of being 80 years old.
