I don't think officials are scared to upset or offend the home crowd. I just think they are human and are influenced to some degree by the energy of the home crowd. I think 99% of officials try to do a good job and be unbiased. obviously they make mistakes but that is the nature of their job. Nobody can be perfect and I am actually amazed how often they are correct when calls are subjected to replay.
