...is still frustrating, but it looks like it was the medicine we needed to gel as a team. (Also, SFA is better than most think and might only lose two or three games in the regular season.)

Also from the past opponents section (didn't want to start a new thread), A&M beat Kentucky at Rupp today, 83-71. They're now 12-3 so that's looking like a good win now.

I think it was what Kruger needed to change the starting lineup and limit minutes to certain players. Putting Hield in there has made this team way better.

Not to mention, Osby minutes have gone from 24mpg in non-conference to 33mpg in conference. That has been huge so far.

Certainly not a game we should lose, but SFA is now 14-1 with their only loss coming at Texas A&M. They have won at both Tulsa and ORU by double digits.

The SFA loss is a game we can't get back now. It was also a turning point that has this team playing better on both sides of the ball, particuarly on defense. There's definitely a sense of urgency we never saw before the loss to SFA at home.

Moving Hield to the starting lineup was certainly part of the turnaround. So was moving Clark to the four spot, where he can use his athleticism and quickness to his advantage, by creating mismatches on offense, and still at least hold his own against bigger players on defense, due to his strength, long arms and quick feet.

It should be obvious to everyone by now why Kruger put his freshmen through the fire in the pre-season portion of our schedule. Hornbeak and Hield are contributing at a high level for first year players. In time, I believe Cousins will, too. It would be a huge mistake to give up on him so soon. We also got a glimpse of what M'Baye can do when he decides to turn up the volume on whatever motivates him to play with more aggression.

I like the way this team is playing now. It's a total team effort, where everyone finally understands his role, whether it's as a starter, or as a back up off of the bench who may play starter minutes in some games. Despite what some may think, Lon Kruger deserves credit for that, too.

The SFA loss is a total non factor. Our RPI is at 14 after that loss. Our fate completely rests on what lies ahead.
