Mac McClung has impressive skills, but it’s his athleticism that had my attention in the two Georgetown games I saw on television last season. This highlight video is from his freshman season.

One web site I was on said he already has a collection of 13 schools competing for his services. There will almost certainly be others. Okie State is on that list, OU is not. That may be because McClung wants to play the point. I think he would start somewhere at OU. He’s that good. If OU’s coaches decide to get us in the mix for this kid, we’ll have plenty of competition.

OU has no chance. He’s staying east coast to probably a blue blood so he can learn to play defense. GT was his best offer and he showed out, he’s going to try and prove he can play at an elite school imo.

Some coaches just have a buzz, or excitement around them. Beard is one of them. Buzz Williams is another. Sure, they still have to produce on the court, but it's a lot easier to do that with the talent those guys are pulling in.

Buzz’s trophy case must be buckling from all the hardware he has won with that talent he has stockpiled.

It would be a fun project to go back through the archives on this board and find all the coaches mentioned as having buzz/energy/excitement, and then see how many of them ever translated that into results. Shaka and Billy G are two guys who definitely had everyone in college basketball expecting huge things when they got a high profile job.

How the hell does beard recruit these guys to Lubbock.

You guys crack me up. Had Lon recruited this kid out of high school, based on his rivals profile, some of you would have lit the world on fire about how terrible of a recruiter lon is. Now all of a sudden after he had a couple solid seasons at Georgetown he is this can’t miss recruit that lon is terrible for not being able to reel into Oklahoma.

Some guys posting that he would probably end up at Duke or North Carolina or KU or any other blue blood. He ends up at Texas Tech and some of you are losing your minds because he’s so talented.

Look at his rivals profile and the schools that are listed that he was being recruited by at the time he was in high school and tell me how many of you would’ve been thrilled that he signed with Oklahoma? Yes I know he has had two good years at Georgetown and no I don’t get hung up on the recruiting stars like a lot of people do, but the majority of this board that complain about lon and his recruiting do get hung up on the stars that a lot of these guys have.

A ton of guys are complaining about Cortes and yet his profile looks better than McClung‘s at this point in their career. We don’t know if he will pan out but I think it’s funny that Cortes is not getting some of the pub that some of you guys are now giving mcClung and acting like beard just signed a five-star recruit.
