The award was determined by the Oklahoma AAU executive committee and considered nominations of amateur athletes with Oklahoma ties in any sport. Previous Sooners to win the award include Oklahoma football players Sam Bradford, Baker Mayfield, Gerald McCoy and Jason White...

Well done, Brady! Nice honor for a very good Sooner who should be in line for a very good senior season.

nice...

so folks think he's a 3 in the NBA? will he get drafted or as a free agent...?

I'm so out of the loop with nba...don't they only have 3 rounds of drafts? unlike football.

Brady's lack of quickness will really hurt his NBA prospects. Have to be able to defend your position. Not sure what position that would be for him in the NBA.

Length + Shooting ability will be NBA level. If he can bulk up and play the 4 on a small ball team, he might have a shot. Lots more zone being played right now, so you never know. But most likely an overseas player.

But if he's 6'9" and hits 40% of his threes this year, he'll get a solid look at least. He's REALLY efficient as an offensive player. High effective field goal percentage, low turnovers. Very good defensive rebounder. But quickness and ball-handling are going to be killers for him, where NBA prospects are concerned, I'm afraid.

There are plenty of 4's in the NBA who can't defend a lick but can shoot and they are highly coveted. Look no further than the Thunder, Gallinari is a prime example. Granted he has a proven track record as a shooter and I'm not saying Manek will be as good as Gallo. Duncan Robinson is another example. If you can shoot, you can play in the NBA. The problem with OU Players for the last half decade is that none could shoot except Trae Young. Doo has had flashes, but consistency over his career will hurt his draft stock. Manek and Reaves are the first real shooters we've had since Trae.

see, I don't know chit about nba...ah well. :ez-roll:

Here is a quick summary: best players on the planet playing amazing basketball on a nightly basis. There are more clutch shots and plays made in a week of NBA games than in a month of college ball. Also more strategy and better coaching. I prefer watching college, but I’ll never understand all the people who like to brag about never watching the NBA and act as if there is something wrong about the league or its product.

Gallinari is a pretty good comparable. Brady misses a lot of bunnies, but if he develops the strength, I think he could be the type of inside/outside player gallinari is. Manek will get a chance to show he can do both. Can he extend his range to NBA 3? If so, I like his chances to make a summer league roster and compete. I think Doolittle is in the same boat.

Duncan Robinson is quick. He's got solid NBA footspeed and lateral movement and NEVER stops moving. Buddy Hield, JJ Redick are comparables for him.

Yeah Robinson is more of a 2 or 3, not a 4. Plus he is not a good shooter, he is a great shooter. One of the best in the league.

Doo is a guy who could be hurt by the lack of a normal summer with team workouts and the combine to show his range. But even if he doesn’t get drafted and make a team right away, he should have chances in future years.
