Manek v Young

While people are on here dogging Trae, he's posting videos for his 1.1m Instagram followers basically saying how proud he is of our effort against Florida and also still referring to OU as "we". Trae is a great Sooner.

Great point.

I have a hard time understanding people who claim to be Sooner fans yet are also saying they'd rather OU had not made the tournament, that NCAA tournament appearances don't matter (banner schmanner) and that it doesn't matter that OU had another lottery pick. It's absurd.

Imagine other coaches recruiting against Kruger telling them that OU had 2 bad seasons in a row & hadn't been to the tournament in 2 years. We signed 2 JUCO guys who probably want to play in the tournament. Kruger got Calixte & Reynolds to OU this season partly because of OU's history in making the tournament. If we'd missed it for 2 years, at what pint are we seen as a program in decline. Though last year was frustrating, it's not indicative of a program in decline.

But tournament appearances don't matter...:facepalm

Ha right? Dude just consider the source. We're all good here

yes, those of us who just dont know so much as you ... apparently we dont even know how we feel either. good thing we have raging, insufferable idiots around like you to tell us.

Because of Trae, I watched every game that OU was on the tube.
And a team without Trae probably wouldn't have so many tv appearances including those in prime time.
You can't spend enough money to publicize OU basketball the way Trae brought attention to OU BB even the 2nd half of the season was plain awful.
Hope Manek has a great 4 year career at OU and make some dough as a pro.

You're missing the point. The question was who was/will be better for the program, not who you personally enjoy more. If you would have preferred a different style of play last year, that's perfectly fine, but to say that means Trae was bad for the program is ridiculous. Obviously the last half of last season was a huge letdown, but without Trae, that team never would have gotten off to such a good start and created such high expectations. It's crazy that people are still moaning about Trae instead of just enjoying the fact that this year's team is off to a good start and playing much tougher basketball and better defense.

Thread makes no sense. They are both Sooners.

I wish the mods would shut down the losers who continue to bad mouth TY. He has done magnitudes more for our program than all of their contributions combined.

I honestly do feel kinda "used" by TY as a fan . He stole a season from me for his own personal gain.
Last years fault was just as much Lon's as anyone else. Fact is we weren't that well built as a team. We had a phenomenal player at point guard but not much else because it was all too young or just not very consistent. All we had was one guy doing pretty much everything. If he came in on this years team that has guys that know how to play as graduate transfers and more experienced players overall he would be leading a top 10 ranked team all year. I get this sentiment but I don't put all the blame on Trae. He was doing his thing and trying to make OU better. The team just stunk.

The thread was partially about Trae’s legacy so that is what a lot of people are going to discuss. I also don’t think many people are moaning about Trae. They are talking about his legacy with regard to how the team functioned or was dysfunctional at times. It is certainly true that the team would not have gotten off to a good start without him. But it is also true that the team finished poorly with him.
