Manyang

Some people are their own worst enemies.

Standard Statement- Ou has suspended him indefinitely.

I hope he gets the help he needs with this...

I also trust that Lon Kruger will handle everything well going forward.

Help? Guys he punched a kid.

it wasn't murder

I find that hard to believe.

I don't know anyone that goes around just punching random people for no particular reason.

Believe it.

AK obviously is going thru a lot. But needs to get help. Everyone is pulling for him.

Punching people isn't acceptable behavior. Once your'e above the age of 10 you should be able to control your emotions enough that you don't need to physically strike someone to prove a point, look tough, or because you're angry.

"A couple PS's before I write: Props to @NormanNews for the scoop. Also, I highly doubt Akolda Manyang plays another minute at OU."

Ugh! He needs OU. Hope this isn't true.

I think he means to deal with everything - the loss of his brother and whatever caused him to punch the guy. He has more on his plate than the average college basketball player.

I didn't realize this was still being investigated. I thought it was A-cold-a case.

I'm sorry but not really.

Yes, he does. For that reason, if no other, I'm hoping there is more to this story in AK's favor than we know, or that he will be able to put it all together somehow and stay at OU.

Two things we know for sure. LK does not tolerate bad behavior. But, he is not prone to cut ties with a player who is doing his part to earn his scholarship. I trust Lon to make the right call in this matter.

I think maybe people are thinking he is pretty emotional from the death of his brother and suggesting counseling to help with his emotions

Im with you. Of course, death is a hard thing to overcome. Grief, anger etc...

Been there done that.

You guys sure do make a lot of excuses for this the big fella.

I wish him nothing but the best of luck, but college hoops is cutthroat business. If he can't get his act together we'll find somebody to put on scholarship who will.

I think he needs to transfer, redshirt and give himself time to grieve.

Almost assures that Lattin is our starting 5 next year, and that McNeace, Buford, and Freeman, and Doolittle all get time.

Redshirt problem solved.

Yes tough business.. he is hurting the program and the coaches need time to go out and recruit for his replacement.. Now it's a little late! After him not coming back at all for 2-3 weeks during the tourney I would of started moving on then! Could of had a BIG signed by now!

He is gone and the school suspended him so it doesn't matter what the coaches think.

Not making excuses for AK, he obviously messed up and is paying the price both legally and basketball/school wise.

I hope he gets things in order for the rest of his life, though the loss of a sibling so young is something you never get over, you just learn to cope.
