I hope you are joking man. How many other players have had something hurtful (maybe) said towards them in an away game? Now, how many of those players have gone into the stands to shove the old guy that said whatever? This reaction by Smart was totally unacceptable. He should be suspended for at least 1 game (and maybe more).

I looked at their schedule; it's possible that they could lose 5 more games in the Big 12, if you consider OU beating them next Saturday, which I definitely think is possible. Can you imagine? 11 losses in the Big 12 with their athletes?

On the positive side, I can see OU winning all their games except at KU. That might be enough to finish in 2nd place.

I am by no means a Smart fan, nor am I condoning what he did; but I wonder what that fan said to him while he was still on the ground. I mean, he was doing fine on the ground being helped up by a fan, and then pops up and gets in that dude's face. Crazy! It will be interesting to hear what actually happened from Smart's perspective. Also, I wonder if he is suspended by the league for at least one game. But I believe the phrase "meltdown" is apropos for what is going on in Stillwater.

It doesn't matter what the guy said, Chaser. You've got to turn a deaf ear to it and walk away. There is no justification whatsoever for going after a fan in the stands and pushing him like that. Marcus is out of control now. It started with the temper tantrum he threw when he kicked the team bench a couple of weeks ago. This was a lot worse.

If you watched our game against them, Ford went running down there and started to laugh when nothing happened. So no, I don't think our fans would be that classless.

I'm on orangepower now. The fans there are embarrassed an upset by what Marcus did. They're not defending him in anyway that I could see. They're calling it a classless act that cannot be condoned.

I have been impressed with the fans on that web site. I haven't been to an OSU board in years, mainly because the fans I encountered on the old one were so irrational you couldn't carry on a civil discussion with them. Orangpower is different.

If Longar got suspended for one game for an accidental elbow to the throat of a Tech player, Smart's behavior deserves at least the same.

A couple of situations come to mind:

1) Remember when Roy Williams got all bent out of shape when on of his players fell at the north end of the court? I can't remember the exact situation.

2) There was an incident with a Texas player at GIA several years ago. I can't remember the particulars about that, either.

I have no idea what he said, but when a guy has a smile on his face, I find it hard to believe it was more than the usual razzing players should expect at every conference road game. Smart was just ready to explode, and he picked the man in the stands to do it on.

Before I indict Smart, I'm curious to what that man said. Not excusing what Smart did, but with all the absolute loathing people have of him around here, there is probably another side to the story. What if this man said something racist to Smart? That changes things an awful lot. Just something to ponder.
