Man, I had forgotten about that guy until I watched the Gonzaga-St. John's game last night. He had 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. All those were pretty much career highs so it's not like he has been doing that all season but he sure looked pretty smooth last night.

He has turned it on for the latter half of the year, looked real salty last night.

24 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists in NCAA First Round.
11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists in conference title game.
18 points, 1 rebound, 1 assists in conference semi-final

Those are his last 3 games, but like camp said, he turned it on for the second part of the year.

To start the year he was probably going through that phase that some juco players tend to go through... The game moves a little too fast for the first couple of months but then they settle it and play as expected.

Transition period, no doubt.

Also helped that the Zags were having some PG play problems, which allowed Marquise to get more minutes at the 2.

Word is that Carter was ready to commit to OU until the Tiny Gallon violation story broke. Can't recall if TMG had announced he was leaving before Carter pledged to the Zags or that came later? Either way, it's too bad he didn't follow in big brother's footsteps, he would have been a nice addition to our roster.

TMG had already left before Carter committed to the Zags. I think both Poland and Carter were "dirty recruited" away from Oklahoma due to the NCAA stuff and the questions of whether Jeff would return after last season.

If you remember, Jeff was busy recruiting, so he never released a statement or answered questions until signing day was almost here or maybe even after signing day. A bunch of us on this board were wondering why everything was so quiet from Joe and Jeff, and if maybe this meant he wasn't coming back. IMO, this fueled the negative recruiting toward OU and Jeff and cost us Poland and Carter, both of which started on their respective teams.

You throw those 2 guys in with Clark, Davis, Fitz and Pledger and we are at least 4 wins better, maybe more. We would still have a big hole in the middle, but our PG situation is light years better with Carter over Blair.

Is he Nate's brother?

No doubt about it, BOB. Capel himself said that schools were using that story as a negative recruiting tool. We'll never know how much the Tiny/OT fiasco affected the final outcome of our recruiting class that year, and ultimately Capel's future as OU's head coach?

It didn't help that OT was the lead recruiter on most of those guys when he resigned.

Watching him and Grant yesterday, two OU legacies, was tough.
