Matt Painter to Mizzou early this week

I've seen this tweet a couple of times - "Matt Painter to Mizzou done deal. Will be announced Monday. 2 million for 7 years. Extra 300k for assistants"

There have been a lot of tweets from a guy named Todd Crawford (something like that). He has no information... just throwing stuff out there because he knows people are looking.

I did, however, see someone post that the Purdue rivals board is saying Painter was offered $2.2 million, but said drop it down to $2.0 and use the other $200k to pay my coaches. Supposedly he's not really worried about the money, just wants to win, and I guess he didn't feel like Purdue was going to commit long-term to winning.

This Fing better not be like... well... everything else.

ManCaveSports - "Matt Painter is currently the 8th highest paid coach in the Big Ten ($1.3 million). He's using #Mizzou interest as leverage against #Purdue."

Missouri fans have to be livid with this past week and now this...

ManCaveSports isn't exactly ESPN...

Painter got his raise last year. The best they could do was offer the Big 10 COY (twice) with two sweet 16s on his resume the 8th best contract in the conference. What's changed between then and now where they'd suddenly give him the going rate for a top 15 coach?

I know, but you mentioned that Todd guy and I saw their exchange. Man Cave Sports sounds like someone living in their mom's basement.

I wish my parents would hurry up and get a fricken basement already.

Lol @ mizzou if this is true

Ok, I lied. One last Matt Painter related post.

The NCAA allows players who have graduated to transfer without penalty to finish their eligibility at another school that offers a graduate program the original did not.

Robbie Hummel is set to graduate in May, and Mizzou has three open scholarships...

Purdue coach Matt Painter will meet with Mizzou soon to gauge the school's commitment to the basketball program, sources told the Post-Dispatch today.

A resolution to the Painter situation will likely be Wednesday. One source said it was better than a 50 percent chance that Painter would accept an offer.

The Tigers are looking for a replacement to Mike Anderson, who left last week to take the Arkansas job.

Before Anderson left, the school had offered a contract extension and raise for Anderson for seven years at about $2 million per year.

Those numbers are more than Painter currently makes at Purdue and would make the Missouri job attractive to him, although he has strong ties to Purdue.

Well, the league just got a little tougher. Joe C had better not go cheap on our hire. I am really getting concerned.............

Purdue will keep him. I still think he's staying.

810 WHB in KC had interviews with the guy from Power Mizzou and with Fraschilla.

According to one of those guys, Painter is only paid 800K at Purdue and their facilities are really bad. Not to mention the assistants pay is the lowest in the Big 10. Painter is trying to get Purdue to commit to basketball or he may leave for Mizzou. If he's interested in leaving, Joe needs to go see him.

If Mizzou can get Painter, then they just improved their program by leaps and bounds. It will get that much tougher for us, depending on who we hire, OSU and Baylor. I think these 3 teams will be fighting for the cellar in the conference every year now that BCG is at Tech and if Painter goes to Mizzou.

New York Daily News says it's done. Painter to Mizzou for 7 years, $14 million.

Mizzou gets it done. Calling Joe C.... Calling Joe C..... If only our AD could make a splash that quickly. That is what you call a BIGTIME hire... Purdue is a better bball program than us, no? Great..... Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
