at this point they need to take everything they were offering to scott and add it to the pedulla budget .. just for optics ..

there are still a ton of good players out there ... but they need a key win to show they are serious ..
 
Pedulla is gone. From the limited reporting out there, we weren’t even in his final two.

We’ve had this specific discussion so will say same thing. I agree, I follow recruiting pretty closely and it means a little less. However I personally love the transfer aspect, it’s a more compelling roster construction model IMO. I’m sure there are fans like you who will care less, there are fans like me who will actually care more but I think it’s moot because casual fans (who drastically out-number you/me) don’t care.

The ratings back that up although if you have specific data that contradicts that, I would love to read it.

Still early for data analysis.

My guess is that the thunder are going to become even more popular than college hoops in Oklahoma. Especially now that htey are good again.
And honestly, I'm sadly starting to lean that way too. Why watch a poorly constructed team of paid players when I can watch a more talented team? Just because OU is on the jersey? That OU on the jersey means nothing to most of these kids now. Definitely less than the OU on the check deposit
 
The pitch(es) to Sean should have been..


$500K, a car, and season tickets to the OKC Thunder. He's a huge fan. You could have even set up some kind of meeting with the players (maybe after their playoff season, IDK).

Maybe other incentives. He has a girlfriend, what are her plans for her new career? Can we find her a new job? A new apartment or house with Sean? Maybe even a new Golden Retriever.

But I guess, with $850K, he can buy some of that himself but the distance will be impossible, obviously.

Something like that. Then OU should have went to fuccing work and got 20+ kids on campus. Maybe a public NIL campaign push (without C&C's garbage a**es).

My whole problem with this take is we have no idea what the pitch was. It is pretty pointless to say what OU should have done without know what it did do. All we can say is it wasn't enough

Of course. Who the hell knows. I'd love to know but it'll never ever happen.

I doubt they offered to get his girlfriend to Norman though, lol. Maybe that's impossible anyway.

It's another stupid StoopsBros post...that means; their pitch seems to have failed/I doubt they were all too imaginative (but yeah, don't know)

Obviously being goofy.

But one point was $850K vs $500K + a bunch of other perks that could be added on that may be more valuable (like the girlfriend stuff if it were possible).

As it relates to Pedulla, (and others) it seems like our initial pitch(es) worked, but the NIL offers got bumped by Ole Miss, Pitino, etc. and we could not match.

And we know we aren't getting a hometown discount. So, to put it plainly, we're kind of up a creek, at least until we fight $$$ battles we can win.

Or, hear me out, you cast a much wider net. Bring in bodies upon bodies and do your due diligence evaluating and scouting for diamonds in the rough. Instead of low-hanging fruit.
