MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

Are you a contrarian in all aspects of life? If someone says “I love Chilis, I always have a great time with my family”, do you usually to tell them that Chilis is trash and here is a long list of the reasons why? I know this is a message board, but sometimes it’s best to let things go. You may be right, but going out of your way to tell someone they are wrong isn’t helpful.
How about all the people who are wrong? Are their consistently wrong posts "helpful?"

As to your first question, I am not a contrarian. I make up my own mind. If it happens to align with the consensus, that's fine. If not, that's fine, too. Contrarians make it a point to take viewpoints that are contrary to the majority.

Keep lying if you want. People have said he will start games in year one. People have posted highlights from summer pickup games and started threads about how LEGIT he is. People frequently list him as our backup PG even though we all see that Moser rarely trusts freshmen enough to play them meaningful minutes.

And it isn't just him. Last summer, ADA came after me for questioning the reports about Luke being a great shooter who would stretch the floor and be a key part of the team. People were giddy when reports came out (from CW Moser, Bob P, and Lusk) that said he may even start. And let's not forget that every season, the talk is about how deep we are and how tough it will be to settle on a rotation because we have 10 guys who are capable of being good, rotation players. It's a never-ending cycle. Again, people are welcome to post whatever they want. And I am free to point out how silly it is.
How is showing a tweet of him lighting up a really good AAU team and 1 person suggesting he COULD start a few games calling him the savior? OU only has 2 PGs on the roster (besides Dayton) and they are both combo guards. So yeah Dayton is the backup, even though most realize Elvis & Miles will share the duties.

We will know by tomorrow night whether Moore withdraws from the draft.
Can't imagine he doesn't (withdraw), but he's certainly waiting until the last minute.

Saw a top 100 list for potential draftees the other day. Moore wasn't on it.

It’s the aggressive wording at times. Instead of “ I hope he works out, I am just not sold on his athletic ability”, you usually come at things more aggressively and accusatorial is all I am saying. One is more constructive than the other as people are apt to respond in kind, which halts dialogue. I admire the sticking to your values though. :)

I'm sure he knows he won't be drafted. I just hope (selfishly) that he hasn't just decided to move on from college and start a pro career somewhere.

Your obsession with who's right and who's wrong borders on the pathological. Demanding apologies and mea culpas because posters expressed some optimism about the team or an individual player six months earlier--it's very odd behavior.

None of us have a freaking clue at this stage about the 2024-25 Sooners. Anyone who "gets it right" is just lucky. Most of us have seen none of our new players in person. Most have seen very little of them on tape. It's all idle musings at this point. But you take it very personally when someone dares to be hopeful and you will, no doubt, be calling them out for it in a few months if it turns out they got a little bit over their skis.

That is such a load of bull. The vast majority of guys on our roster have tons of college experience. Anyone who follows the sport closely and can be objective can look at their track records and make reasonable predictions about how they will do. Will you say it’s all just random guesses in the fall when just about every credible national writer and publication projects us near the bottom of the league and outside the tourney field? It’s not rocket science. And yep, I’ll concede that every year, there are teams that surprise, both good and bad. But we have a roster that has a track record to judge, and only two high school kids coming in. To suggest it will be “luck” of any of our projections come true is silly.

And if you’re looking for someone who takes posts personally, I’d suggest you check the mirror.

This is where I think NIL really helps college. He’ll make more money staying at OU than overseas or G-League.
Agree completely. I think now, the only guys who will leave for a minor league career are guys who just can’t stand college and don’t want to deal with another year of class.

1) What is your source for these numbers? No offense, and I'm not trying to start something, but you're bad with numbers. I'm not implying that you're stupid, flunked math in school, or are hard to have a conversation with. I'm just sharing something I noticed.

2) Those numbers are mostly based on one year (2022). His 2024 numbers are less than Lon's final year. It's not a consistent thing.

3) Lon offered fewer white people this past season (if your numbers are correct). Does that mean he doesn't like white players as much anymore?

So you noticed something 3 years ago and are mentioning it this year? He didn't offer very many white players in the portal this year or out of HS based on your numbers. Which again, I don't trust your numbers. But it's not because I think your IQ is comparable to my shoe size. It's just something I noticed.
Hahaha, thank you sir.

When I see WT and Seymore in really really bad arguments, dumb comments and awful awful stats, I am at ease knowing I used the ignore button to it's full potential.

I mean, just because he said we were the biggest loser doesn’t mean he thinks we didn’t get good players. 🤣🤣

I bet that entire video had you erect like you were watching porn. LOL

And we could be worse next year for sure.....but I'm at least hopeful we arent.

Former 3-Star from Texas J.T. Toppin left UNM after an all-conference freshman season to declare for the draft and enter the portal at the same time. He finally pulled his name out of the draft but surprised the "locals" (in Albuquerque) by signing with Texas Tech. The people in "Lobo Nation" despise Tech for many of the same reason that most fair-minded fan bases hate the University of Texas. He'd made a statement about wanting to "be on a bigger stage," but Lubbock hardly seems like such.

Well, they play in the best conference in America and made the national championship game a few years ago. No offense to New Mexico, but I think Tech is definitely a bigger stage.
