MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

I bet that entire video had you erect like you were watching porn. LOL

And we could be worse next year for sure.....but I'm at least hopeful we arent.
Again, has nothing to do with what we “want.” I’d imagine everyone on an OU message board “wants” us to go 40-0. That doesn’t mean we can’t honestly discuss what is likely to actually happen.

I mean, just because he said we were the biggest loser doesn’t mean he thinks we didn’t get good players. 🤣🤣
Don't worry...we all already know who the "biggest Loser" really is around here.....;). It's funny, now some of us all believe the three players that so many on this board b!tched about A LOT of the season (Los, Oweh & Javian) are now all the sudden HUGE losses. Which is it?? I like Goodman, and respect his work, but if you are really in full agreement with him on this, than you are basically admitting that we were actually a pretty decent team this year, who really should have made the tourney, but didn't due to a combo of things (key injuries, a rash of last weekend upsets, etc.). You can't possibly have it both ways and think we were terrible this year, but losing the three players he mentioned is a big loss. That math doesn't jive to me. You could argue that we improved at most positions...and you could also argue that we didn't. We will all find out.

Where have I argued we were “terrible” last season? I think we were exactly how the committee saw us … a bubble team. I see the three guards who left as guys who underachieved due to their own failures and poor coaching that didn’t maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. I see the incoming transfers as less talented with lower upside than the outgoing guys. And I recognize that our best player from the last half of the season graduated, so even if the transfers end up being close to a wash, our team as a whole is worse because of the loss of Soares.

All in all, I think we were probably a top 40ish team last season and expect us to be worse this season. That doesn’t mean I think last year’s team was really good or that they got screwed. They got all kinds of chances to prove that they were really good and lost just about every time.

I can think of 4 that would rather not see that but who’s counting
That’s right, we all know you’re a better fan since blind homerism equates to better fandom. The good news for you is that if you keep up the butt kissing, there is a decent chance PM will have a spot for you on his coaching staff soon since he can’t keep guys around for more than a year or two.

So which would you rather "want" as an OU basketball fan rooting for the best?

- Shock the world. Go something like 30-9, make the FF, or banner raised in Norman with our first ever NC. Moser gets a lifetime extension with a hefty buyout.
- Much like this year. On the bubble at 22-13, but make the tourney as a #10 seed, losing by double digits in the 1st round. Moser's contract is extended two years.
- Wheels fall off. Talent isn't there in tough SEC. We go 12-20 and Moser is fired the day after the SEC tournament.

Two of those are unlikely to happen. One has a much higher probability, maybe even likely. Only one gets rid of Moser.

Which do you think is the one most likely to happen? I think the last one is more likely than the bubble scenario. We were a bubble team this season and our talent has been downgraded a fair amount. I also don't think Moser would get an extension if he barely manages to make the tourney.

so which would you prefer to happen of the three scenarios?

so which would you prefer to happen of the three scenarios?
You didn't ask me, but.....

Two things can be true. I can want Moser gone first and foremost, by whatever means makes that happen. I don't think he is the long-term solution, so yes, my biggest fear is that he keeps doing "just enough" and turns what should have been a bad 3 year coaching tenure at OU into a very, VERY mediocre 6-8 year coaching tenure at OU by limping into postseason a couple of times.

AND, secondly, I will root for OU to win every game they play and be excited if Moser lucks into some kind of FF season like he did at Loyola.

Nobody on this board is going to actively root for OU to lose games. Some of us think that is likely to happen, but that doesn't mean we'll be rooting for it to happen.

Best case is OU has a good season and Moser moves on as well. That's unlikely, but not impossible.

so which would you prefer to happen of the three scenarios?
The first one obviously isn't going to happen no matter how much we would all like it, so again, it comes down to the other two. Like I said, the second one doesn't strike me as realistic because power conference coaches don't get extended for making the tourney once in four years and getting bounced in the first round. But to indulge your fantasy world, I would prefer scenario 3 to scenario 2 because it would be better for the program long term. Going through the debacle that was the final two years of Capel was horrible, but it was so bad that it forced Joe to make a move and five years later, we were in the FF. If Capel had done just enough to last another year or two, that never would have happened.

Cannot believe an OU basketball fan would prefer a 12-20 season over a NC. Regardless of what it meant for the tenure of the HC.

Cannot believe you are such a liar that you pretended like that's what I said. Actually, on this board, I can.

Appreciate the honesty. And glad to hear you will root for OU to win the NC, even if it left a bitter aftertaste with Moser.

And while we're on the honesty train... even though it wasn't one of the three scenarios mentioned, your last line would be my preferred outcome too. Do well enough for Moser to be attractive to another program. It means we've elevated our program a bit and maybe be more attractive position to move forward in a different direction.

Wow. You don't even know me and calling me a liar?!!? Why so personal?? You keep saying this is a message board and we can express opinions, but when someone does, you last out with personal attacks?? It seems you don't actually want a discussion of different thoughts as you lash out when someone does engage with a differing opinion.

You stated, in your response, that you would prefer scenario 3 as scenario 1 was unlikely to happen. That was your post, not my words.

For ANY OU basketball fan, I cannot believe they would dance around the question and prefer OU to lose instead of winning the NC, or even making the tourney. That is what I said/asked. Personally, I would prefer a NC in any scenario, regardless of coach, players, or crap, even consequences at this point.

The question wasn't difficult. Would you rather OU win and keep Moser, or lose and get rid of him? Your post made your answer clear, which is crazy an OU fan would feel that.

I can’t believe y’all waffled on that softball question.

No, I didn't. I said I prefer 3 to 2. I guess reading is, in fact, hard.

I didn't waffle. I simply refuse to answer something that silly. It would be like if I asked you, "would you prefer winning the lottery and marrying a super model, or having your leg amputated and going broke?" It's a silly question and the answer is so obvious that there is no reason even discussing it. The question that is interesting, because it involves two realistic options, is whether you would prefer more seasons where PM is just mediocre enough to keep his job without ever actually accomplishing anything or moving the program forward, or one horrible season that leads to a coaching change.

Again, cannot engage in a conversation but would rather lob personal attacks.

You, in fact, said you prefer 3 to 2 and one was unlikely to happen. Again, prefer losing to winning- your words, not mine.
"The first one obviously isn't going to happen no matter how much we would all like it, so again, it comes down to the other two...I would prefer scenario 3 to scenario 2"

I'll make it easy since you had a difficult time with the first one- would you rather see OU win, whatever level you choose, and keep PM, or have a losing record and get fired?

And BTW, count me as one who would rather have a NC regardless if it meant it was with a crappy coach and we just lucked into it for one year.

But you did answer. Just confirms what we all know. You’d rather OU be horrible than great so PM would get fired.

I’ve said it’s ncaa or bust this year.

Any of those asst take a worse job? Head coach, Duke, Kentucky (one was fired, his fault) but that doesn’t fit the narrative.
