MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

I'm in the minority.

The only thing I'll miss about Javian is his personality. His family is super sweet. Nice people. Javian has such a big smile, great kid.

But from a basketball playing standpoint, the kid couldn't play defense to save his life, he shot under 30% from 3P in Big 12 play, and is slight of build. I both appreciate his time at OU (his game winner vs OK St will be remembered even in a "lost" season) and look forward to OU (potentially) getting better.

Now, the task at hand is to get better, and I'll be patient to see if OU does that task.

I don't think it is a huge loss either. The only negative is that its more turnover. As a player he is expendable.
And that is my main basis for looking at this past season positively. With Los and JM as your guards, any team would struggle

I don't think anyone here is arguing that he is a great player. I have been saying for months that his game was overrated and that he would struggle against Big 12 teams. But that doesn't change the fact that we now have to replace our entire backcourt (3 transfers and 3 graduates), are still woefully undermanned in the frontcourt, are unlikely to get anything from our freshmen (because, Moser), and are unlikely to be able to land any of the true game changers. I imagine JM is probably the kind of guy we will continue to be able to land -- guys a tier or two below the level that would land them at the top schools.

The other thing is, we saw lots of posts this season saying that the biggest reason not to fire Moser was because that would lead to a complete rebuild. Well . . . how would that differ from what we are dealing with now?

I'm curious on your take on a guy like Jerome Tang?

Has a great year in the portal last year....this year finishes just below OU in the standings.

Loses a 2 year starter to the portal already in Cam Carter this year.

I think a lot of guys on here would kill to have Tang.....but I would counter with the fact that I don't think he would be as effective here because KSU has sold their soul with NIL since he got there and I don't think he'd get that here.

Just my thought....no proof
I think you just made something up about KSU and their NIL. I also think that right now, I would, in fact, kill to have a coach who could get us to the tourney 50 percent of the time.

You also simply can't discount that he lost his best/second best player on the eve of the season to something beyond his control.

It’s too late to fire Porter if Moore leaves too. We’re in the toilet and there’s no plunger in site.

The problem is, we are now weeks behind. That's why it was dumb to hold onto Moser in order to hopefully keep one or two guys from a team that wasn't good enough to make the tourney.

No one is paying the $6million buyout. I doubt anyone will pay the $3million buyout after next year either. The fanbase doesn’t care about ou basketball that much.
