When is the womens media day? The men had theirs at KC yesterday. The women should be having theirs in OKC since the Big 12 tourney is there.

I believe the coaches voted not to have one this year. Don't know all the details

Yeah if would be awful to have a media day and draw attention to a sport that is losing attendance.

Oh well, guess we information deprived fans will just have to wait. Glad the season starts soon.

I am also disappointed that OU has not posted its media guide online yet as it usually does around the time the season starts.

As for the declining attendance thing, attendance is down in all sports if I'm not mistaken. Even football. People don't wanna hop in a car and drive like this used to now that $3 gas is the norm :(

I was curious about this as well. Seems like a waste not to have Big 12 media day. I guess most, if not all, of the schools have their own miniature media day. It's nice to have a Big 12 media day in which some NATIONAL media come. I know a few announcers normally work on some stories at media days that they can share while broadcasting games as the season goes on.

A real shame they aren't having one this year.

You are correct! But especially basketball, men's AND women's. People, especially younger, can follow everything on their smartphone, ipad, etc and also haven't developed a strong interest because of all the technology these days.

I would hope that we start seeing more weekends of basketball or double header type things, where mens and womens programs join forces to get the fans while they're in town to show up for more than one game.

A few years back, I attended the OU-KU mens game, then an OU baseball game, then OU-Baylor womens all in the same weekend. We lost both of the basketball games (it was Capel's last year), but still a very good weekend

I guess they tried the Big 12 Campus tour instead....but no media and fans are following that. The Big 12 needs to do something to create interest among fans and potential new fans.

Usually, media guides are distributed to Fast Break Club members who come to the practice/scrimmage/pizza party/autograph session, which is tonight. But there was a notice that the media guides would not be available tonight. So I'm guessing the reason it's not yet online is that it does not yet exist!

Just a few comments about what Sherri discussed:

Aaryn: she is beginning to take on more of a leadership role which is what has been missing from her game.

Maddie and Kaylon: both have completely recovered from their injuries and are not at all limited. Sherri has had to slow Maddie down just a bit as she will dive for balls and go all out which means she is ready to go.

Gioya: Joanna was our tough player and played with an edge. Gioya has shown an inclination of playing with that edge. Sherri said Gioya is a prankster and is a fun loving 18 yr. old who gets along great with teammates but when she steps on the court she changes into an athlete and is ready to take on anyone.

Sherri said the game will be called much different this year and she welcomes the change. She said we can expect ballgames to last forever due to the many whistles and we will have some players in foul trouble but she believes in a couple of months players will adjust and it will make the game much better.

Sherri also said this team is rebounding like crazy. She said that no one particular person is responsible but as a team we are really hitting the boards.
