Interesting.
Depending on our scholarship situation, might be worth taking a look at.

How did Ohio State get both Grandstaff and Mickey Mitchell, Texas guys, in the first place?

If Mitchell follows Grandstaff they'll get to see some of their old friends get beat at Owen Field next year.

Most southerners can't handle the north. When you go from 300 days of sun to 100 it takes a toll on you mentally and physically. The winters are awful.

Mickey Mitchell is the younger brother of Mike Mitchell, the 5-star linebacker who signed with Ohio State but eventually transferred to Texas Tech to be closer to his dad, who has a medical issue.

Given that reality, combined with his friend Grandstaff leaving a few months ago, it's not surprising that Mickey is transferring.

Mickey's next landing spot will be his 4th school in 5 years.

Hard to generalize on such matters. This southerner was thrilled to move north. The summers are awful in Oklahoma.

That's fair. It's not the end all be all, but I took a job that shipped around 100 southerners (mostly Okies and Texans) to Ohio, and I cannot recall one of them who enjoyed the weather and most of them absolutely despised it. In my experience, your opinion would place you in the minority.

How is that possible if he's just a frosh? Not doubting you, just wondering if you could shed some light.

I'm guessing he is counting prep and high schools.

Also, I googled him and he has a man bun. That's a big strike against.

300 vs 100? Hardly, but, you're right in that the adjustment would be tough for those who like warm weather. I spent the first 42 years of my life in NY and the past 11 in NC. When I talk to people down here, the number one reason they never want to move back north is due to the cold...though I don't recall the number of days the sun is shining being in any conversation.

As for why those two guys are transferring or transferred, sometimes people are just followers. Kelvin Sampson lost his entire 2003 recruiting class (except his son who walked on) to transfer. I'm not sure how either that situation or the one in Columbus played out with two leaving/left so far, but guessing weather was not the primary factor.
