Mike Anderson to Arkansas a done deal?

Anything is possible but it's looking more and more like this guy is full of it.

Arkansas close to naming Anderson its next coach

Missouri coach Mike Anderson is close to reaching an agreement in principle to become Arkansas' men's basketball coach, but a deal has not been finalized and no formal introduction is planned for Sunday, a source close to the Arkansas program told CBSSports.com late Saturday.

An attempt to reach Anderson late Saturday was unsuccessful.

The source said there are still things to work out despite a television report suggesting otherwise, but that barring a breakdown it appears Anderson will ultimately leave Missouri for Arkansas -- the place where he assisted Nolan Richardson for 17 seasons before landing his first head coaching job at UAB. Anderson has been at Missouri five seasons. He made the NCAA tournament each of the past three years. His Tigers lost to Cincinnati in the Round of 64 on Thursday.

Arkansas is looking for a coach because it fired John Pelphrey last Sunday.

Pelphrey made one NCAA tournament in four years.

IMO Anderson belongs at Arkansas.

It will be a good fit and they will do well.

No idea if this is true or not, but I do know Anderson was recruiting for Mizzou at the juco nationals as this report came out. There are pictures of him with Melvin Watkins at the championship.

If he knows he's moving on to Arkansas tomorrow and is using Mizzou resources to recruit players today, I've got a problem with that. Arkansas doesn't even have any open spots right now, so what's the point?

I sure wish Arkansas would poop or get off the pot and hire somebody so we can secure our guy.

They may have their eyes on the same guy.

I'm more and more getting the feeling that the Anderson to Arkansas stuff is all coming from Anderson's agent, Jimmy Sexton. He pulled similar stunts with Houston Nutt and Nebraska (and other jobs) simply to get a raise (but also represents Saban... who turned a flat denial into a new job).

I think we do have our eyes on the same guy.

I'm also not convinced about the Anderson to Arky rumor. I live in KC and you would think if it were as hot and heavy as we've heard the last few days between the 2 parties that it would be discussed more in KC. I just don't buy it. Anderson is probably trying to get more money.

Boy that's a great way to endear a coach to a university and a fanbase. If true Anderson is playing with fire.

No kidding. I think people ultimately forget about it eventually (most fans, anyway).

For what it's worth, Anderson reportedly told Otto Porter he was going to stay at Mizzou last night right after Porter won his third straight state title.

Hoping and praying this happens soon so Arkansas doesn't make a run at Buzz.

Sports by Brooks tweet - "Sexton driving bus on M. Anderson rumors. Alden will not go above $2M. No matter how much Sexton leaks to create panic."

Just found out that any new extension for Anderson needs MU board of curators approval.

Their next meeting takes place in the first few days of this week.

I'm about as sure as I could be at this point that this is all Sexton trying to create panic (as your post puts it) to squeeze as much out of the extension as possible.

This extension has been planned for quite some time.

I have absolutely no idea what Mike Anderson can accomplish at Arkansas that he cant at Missouri.

This would be a really stupid move on his part.
