She tweeted that she will play tonight. The game will be televised by FS Southwest Plus/FCS Central.

Mo played well and shot well - with a huge bandage on. Amazing. She is looking forward to the WNIT.

I thought Morgan was really solid last night. She was confident, made good decisions, shot well, and defended with intensity.

Some are worried about offense. Offense will be the least of our worries this year. We still have a lot of work to do on defense and rebounding but the shots will fall when Sherri isn't subbing the way she is now. She is trying to figure out player combinations and who will be her main 8 or 9 to see action.

I agree. One kid that really impressed me last night was Derica. She is constantly moving her feet, she moves as the ball moves and gets into good fundamental defensive positions and plays the gaps. She does a good job of fighting through screens and finds her man and blocks out. On the offensive end she doesn't take forced shots and spaces well. As the season moves forward I think she will give us some quality minutes when she gets the opportunity.

I also think the staff has done a very good job of preparing the kids for the rule changes on defense. If Texas committed 33 fouls and put their exhibition opponent on the line for 47 foul shots, then it seems to me there may be some teams early in the season that may struggle with the rule changes. Our kids aren't perfect by any means, but I am impressed with how well they are moving their feet and limiting their hand checking. We shall see how it all checks out starting Friday.

Rocjunkie, I agree about following the rule changes. I have been impressed with how we have controlled the hand checking, arm bar in the back, etc. The girls seem to be adjusting much quicker than I was afraid they might.

We'll see if that continues against tougher and quicker opponents. When one feels like they are about to get beat, the hands tend to move quicker than the feet...

Very true! As opponents get stronger and quicker, it is much more difficult to stay in front without grabbing.

I think we are playing the best defense in the Sherri era. We are moving the feet well and I think I see some of Krugers concepts showing up in Sherri's defensive schemes. It also helps that most of the freshmen are playing good defense.

I know some are disappointed with the second halfs in the exhibitions. But come on. How many times have you seen the Sooners force that many shot clock violations in any game, exhibition or not. In the second halfs they have backed off some and Sherri has played the newbies liberally. As good as they are they are not able to play at the same level as the regulars as a group.

We always want perfection.
I think the key to playing defense with your feet is two-fold: 1) move, 2) have enough depth to keep people fresh enough to move. Tired teams reach.
