by the fans during the past three coaches’ tenures.

Capel: Austin Big Balls Johnson

Sampson: Ebi Ere

Tubbs: Jeff Webster

with AJ probably being the most underappreciated of all-time...

What say you?

Kelvin Sampson.

Players I would agree with all you gave.

I have to say all-time is Johnson. Which I think is just awful.

But hey, he had a great collegiate career and is doing just fine now. So good for him.

Austin Johnson, definitely.

A few more:

Johnnie Gilbert
Kevin Bookout
Tim Heskett
Jabahri Brown

BGL, you know how spell that juco All American CB from California who play for OU in the mid 2000s? Right?

Sampson you can probably name about 20. Daryan Selvy, Renzi Stone

James Mayden once flashed his headlights at me on Lindsey to warn us a cop was running radar, so him too...

AJ will always be a player I remember. Not flashy ... but he played hard, played tough, and played solid. AJ was a winning Big-12 player.

I would like to add Renzi Stone to the list. He only averaged about 4 points and 4 rebounds, but he was a solid contributor over four years.

Renzi played solid, played lots of minutes, and proved that you don't have to have a "stud" post player to win a lot of games. Of course Renzi played on some good teams, and he was the quintessential role player.

1996-97 .... 19-11 (9-7; 5th place)

Other posts included Evan Wiley and Bobby Joe Evans. Top scorers were Nate Erdmann (20.5 ppg), Corey Brewer (17.5 ppg), plus freshman Eduardo Najera added 7.0 ppg.

1997-98 .... 22-11 (11-5; 2nd place tie)

Top scorers were Corey Brewer (20.8), Evan Wiley (10.7), Eduardo Najera (10.5), Tim Heskett (9.5), and freshman post Ryan Humphrey added 9.2 ppg.

1998-99 .... 22-11 (11-5; 2nd place tie)

Top scorers were Eduardo Najera (15.5), Eric Martin (12.1), Michael Johnson (11.6), Ryan Humphrey (11.1) and Tim Heskett (9.5).

1999-00 .... 27-7 (12-4; 3rd place tie)

Top scorers were Eduardo Najera (18.4), J.R. Raymond (13.4), Nolan Johnson (10.0), Tim Heskett (7.4), plus a freshman named Hollis added 7.2 ppg.

Not many fans knew what he went through to suit up and play. Most didn't appreciate him until he was no longer around. AJ will always be one of my favorite Sooners.

Me too. Wish we had gotten to see a healthy AJ. You could see it in small sets of games, where he would feel good. He would do really good things. Then he'd tweak and ankle, or pull a hammy, and his production would drop a bit.

Most underappreciated by the fans? In the Sampson era, it's Michael Johnson. For Capel I would probably say AJ but the worm appears to have turned on that as is evidenced by this thread. Tubbs is harder. Nobody ever talks about Damon Patterson anymore but he was incredible his senior year. I'll go with him.

For the Tubbs era my vote is for Tim McCalister. He's our #2 all-time scorer and you never hear anything about him.
