What do you think about Kim's suggestion the tournament be double elimination?

I think if she had beaten Louisville, a double elimination tournament would never have occurred to her.

Has a team ever come through the losers bracket to win a state tournament in Oklahoma?

How would you efficiently set up a double elimination, 64 team tournament and keep costs for the schools manageable?

I think you could do it beginning perhaps with the Sweet Sixteen or Elite Eight, but no way for 64 teams.

She's a sore loser with no class. Shocking, I know.

Well, she kinda got baited into that by Jason Whitlock, who I think proposed it in another article. She did on her own propose going back to the old system of having the top 16 seeds hosting the first and second rounds. That was abandoned long ago because it destroys parity.

That is a loser perspective. This tourney is just fine the way it is.

The reason I would like to see them try a double elimination is because anything can happen in one game. I've seen OU lose national championships in football when (IMO) we had the best team. A double elimination would take away some of the 'luck factor' and give you a team that is most likely the best in that sport for that particular year. Baseball does it now.

Baseball and softball also play doubleheaders, and can play 3+ days back to back without much of a drop in quality play due to being tired, sore, etc.

Part of the greatness of the NCAA Basketball Tournaments are the Cinderella teams and huge upsets. Double elimination would take too long and would eliminate many of the great stories.

I understand the Cinderella stories. I just believe that determining who the best team is has merit. I should have mentioned that OU lost to KU in '88 when we had the best team. Was it better for basketball that KU went home with the NC when they didn't have the best team? I don't think so.

Speaking of the OU-KU game, I just now read a thread on the Men's board about that game.

I'm afraid I must disagree with you all, the part where you all think that Baylor should only lose once per postseason.

On the contrary, I would not mind watching Baylor lose twice.

How often does the "best team" win a NC in anything? The best team is determined over the course of the regular season. Rarely does the best team go undefeated. Softball and baseball are very fun tournaments to watch, but it pales in comparison to the basketball tournaments. And will pale in comparison to the NCAA football playoffs in a few years, which will be single elimination.

Louisville men have a great shot of being the best team and winning the NC this year, but how often does that happen?
