NCAA disputes Tiny Gallon's comments

Since some of us have been confused about a timeline, here is what is alleged:

May 2009- March 2010: Taliaferro was in touch with Hausinger at Merrill Lynch at least 66 times.

August 2009: Hausinger reportedly wired a $3,000 transfer from his Tampa Merrill Lynch firm into a bank account held by Gallon and his mother, Sylvia Wright.

March 18, 2010: TMZ reported the story that Gallon and/or his Mom had received a $3,000 loan. In the story, Hausinger was quoted as saying, "I don't think I want to talk to you", when he was contacted by TMZ.

March 26, 2010: Hausinger was either fired or resigned.

April 5, 2010: NCAA requested info from Gallon but they have not received the information.

April 8, 2010: Oronde Taliaferro resigned.

Sounds like Tiny is stonewalling. Now that he's gone pro, I guess he can do that (see Bush, Reggie).

Why should he talk to them? If the NCAA cannot find a direct paper trail then he has no reason to give them any evidence.

He would be dumb to speak to a body that only governs the athletes of colleges and universities, and he wasn't going to stay at OU, so why even deal with it.

If he has any documents or info that would clear him, OT, and/or OU, I would hope he'd provide them, for his own sake and OU's.

But all he has is documents to prove both he and OU are guilty. I hope he is smart enough to just stfu and keep on keeping on. (see: Bush, Reggie)

No reason for him to talk to them now that he no longer needs their country club membership.

Honestly? If we're guilty (by we, I mean OT and possibly Tiny, but heck, if it extends beyond that, too), I still want him to release whatever info or documentation he's got. Who among us respects Bush and USC for their handling of that mess? I don't. We can't clean up our own (much smaller, it would seem) mess until all the facts are out and the more they remain hidden, the worse we look nationally, in my opinion.

If we're guilty of something, whether based solely on the actions of people who have departed or, heaven forbid, also on the actions of some who remain employed by the university, let's cop to it and start the housecleaning, if necessary.

No one has to talk to the NCAA, not Tiny, not Hausinger, not even Taliaferro unless he wants to coach at another NCAA instituition.

If no one talks, there's no evidence, and there's no probation for OU.

I would normally ascribe to skyvue's approach, but considering this occurred while the program was on NCAA probation and would impact every sport at OU, then I say STFU and let it die with age. In a few years, it will be a non event.

I'm REALLY glad Tiny decided to go pro.

Knowing what we know now, I think that decision was the absolute best thing we could have hoped for as fans of the program...in several ways.

IF he was all that smart this sh!t wouldn't be happening.

I always just assummed that all of these 5* types got paid...a $3,000 loan that had to be paid back seems pretty cheap to me. For all the talk of the death penalty or major sanctions, some reciever at USC got way more benefits, paid it back, and played the next season. Troy Smith got paid, and then suspended and won the Heisman. Seriously, some people need to measure the "harm" vs. what the penalty may or may not be. $3,000.00 dollars that was paid back. From an institution that was in the business of loaning money. With records that cannot be reviewed by the NCAA without some type of court order [and Tiny and his mom will win that fight in a heartbeat]. OU was on probation from the actions of the prior coach, not this one. The coach that was allegedly involved resigned his position. The player that got "paid" (although his mom paid it back) is gone. If anyone should be strung up to high heaven, it should be the compliance office that allegedly is under Boresn's direct control, but I'm just not seeing all the trouble here.
