The NCAA just announced an additional year for all seniors in basketball and all spring sports because of the coronavirus.

Don't how that will affect OU with only one senior and if Dolittle would consider coming back.

That is a very interesting development.

Your thread title sucks though. You should be more clear so people will actually read it.

Oh boy, would I love to have Doo back for another year (assuming college sports are active again come November).

And the board's going to be so slow now that I think there's little danger of any thread, no matter how it's titled, going unopened.

The way I look at it, we lost Doo for half a year a few years back. If he is willing....c'mon back my man.

great gesture by the ncaa. first and last time i will probably write that. don’t know how they would work it out with the scholarship limit. and kur probably not thrilled. lol. but this would be a fitting end to all the redshirt talk as a sophomore. let’s doo it again!

The article didn't address scholarship limits but that is a very good question.

O' by the way the new title is: NCAA add additional year

It would be interesting to see who wants to come back for another year and who is just done with school and ready to move on.

My question is how will this work for those that graduated. Do they have to take classes? How does this affect scholarships? Do they raise the limit, do they not count, are freshmen SOL? Who pays for them since most athletic departments lose money? Lots of moving parts to this

Spring sports. Not basketball.

But they are going to have future discussions regarding the winter sports.

As MJSooner correctly noted above this is a proposal not a done deal. It is also aimed primarily at spring sports. The article below indicates that winter sports like basketball may be included in the discussion. There seems to be a push for that from a few coaches, so who knows, Doo could have an opportunity to return for one more season.

Edited to add that Joe C along with several college coaches and ADs are for granting another year of eligibility for seniors. He specifically mentioned Kristian Doolittle in the article below. I read, too, that an online petition for such a move collected 100,000 signatures in the first 20 hours.

It shouldn't.

It should only apply to teams who were going to the tournament imo. All the seniors who didn’t get to have a go at the ncaas were impacted just as much as those other players in spring sports.

Interesting. I could be down for that limitation. Also, they shouldn't be able to transfer

Nah, the played an entire season. Missing postseason isn't enough to reward them with an extra season. Consider it a lesson on how sometimes life is unfair and sucks.
