New Coach

We are stuck with PM for years. Get it through your heads. Joe C. extended him for the long haul.

Also update on pat knight, he got back into coaching last year at a very successful NAIA basketball school and is currently leading Marion to its worse season in 8 years (he might have been left no talent, who knows). But again, don't hire kellens/pats
 
As to Kellen Sampson, should he take over a successful top 10 program with a billionaire donor paying for everything OR…should he come to OU and try to win with a shoestring budget, no fan support, no admin support, no billionaire donors to buy players, and no positive momentum. Tough choice.
 
Are we still pretty much the same as Missouri? Just a basket or two away?

We did beat Michigan, though. And Arizona!!!
 
Trilly has OU as a top-tier Hot Seat opening from his coaching carousel.

The only other P5 jobs in that top tier are: Minnesota, UCF, and Villanova.

OU is not top tier. The fans suck so bad. The LNC sucks and is the worst venue in the history of venues. The fans are the worst. They only spend money to show up if there’s a good product on the floor. The players don’t even feel appreciated at OU cause the fans suck. OU has no NIL money so they can’t recruit good talent. Oh, did I mention how awful the fans are?

That guy is clueless.

I guess I will clarify, it is a tier-list.

Essentially ranking openings, in tiers, of how hot the seats are (coaches to be fired most likely). Not how good the programs are.

We are the top tier of that a potential opening...aka hot seat.

It's not a good job at the moment, but it is in the SEC. Some coach will see that as a challenge worth taking. Whether it's the right coach is another story completely.

Just caught part of Curry Hicks Sage's Twitter Space tonight. Not sure how long he'll keep the recording up. At about 1:10:00 of the Space, he's asked about OU. He says his source has told him that OU has the money lined up to buy out Porter. He mentioned he had been told the same thing that showed up on Trilly's Discord: that if OU got drilled by Florida, a firing might be imminent. He didn't want to report it because it sounded farfetched.

Curry likes Ross Hodge (North Texas) a lot, and thinks he'd be a good fit at OU. He also mentioned the idea of a high-end NBA assistant (similar to what BYU did), but didn't give any names.

He's throwing stuff against the wall to see if it sticks, but he's knowledgeable about coaching searches.

Now I’m getting my hopes up lol.

I would be stunned if Joe made a move during the season. I honestly can’t remember the last time that happened at a power conference school, unless it involved an off-court issue. But I’d hope it happens 12-24 hours after we get bounced from the conference tournament. And Joe better already be doing his work behind the scenes to find out who might be legitimate candidates.

He'll probably be fired in Nashville after we lose in the conference tournament.
