we move up 1 to 6 in the ap but drop 2 to 8 in the coaches

ku 4 in ap 6 in coaches
isu 5 and 4
WVU 20 and 15
Baylor 25 and 23

no one else in the BIG 12 even receiving votes

notes on future schedule NOVA is 8 in ap and 7 in the coaches ..

I believe this team can be up there with the best of them this year. I don't see a team yet that would worry me against ours. I see young talented teams, but that by itself won't get you a W against this squad. Can't wait to play NOVA.

I kind of feel OU is getting slighted a bit, but I kind of like that. We don't need more coaching fuel(not with the kind of Players Krug is getting), but that doesn't hurt.

I think Villanova is going to be a dose of reality. I'd be very surprised if we beat them. I think their size and physicality will bother us, but it will be a great learning experience for our team.

Villanova are very good, but they aren't bigger than we are.

Hmm. Never would've thought that beating the national runner-up by double digits would lead to a drop in the coaches poll.

I've seen them. Their bigs are much larger than ours. Now, that would be offset if Manyang was a main cog playing 25 minutes a game for us, but that's not the case. Ochefu is 6-11 by like 250. Very physical and athletic. Their other starting big may not be as tall but is an athletic space eater. It is what it is, no big deal. I'm not saying we can't win, I just don't think we will. Again it'll be a great lesson in physicality that will help them down the line. If OU wins that game I might just jump on the FF bandwagon. And I'll be first in the crow line trust me..

I wouldn't bet against the Sooners in any game they play. This team looks like the real deal to me and I don't think they are going to have to worry about match ups against other teams. I think it's the other way around. Other teams need to worry about matching up with the Sooners.

I am very cautious, overly actually. But even I wouldnt vote against OU playing Villanova. This OU team just scores so easily. When your team has dominant backcourt players like this then you are in near any game.

I'm with Stikboy. I'll be thrilled if we pull one off against Nova, but they seem to have come out of the gate stronger than we have so far this season. They've played as tough a schedule as we have (if not tougher), have two more games under their belt than we do, and their smallest margin of victory is 14 points on a neutral court against Stanford (though I'm sure they had many more fans in the stands for that game, which was in Brooklyn, than the Cardinal did).

I'm not counting the Sooners out, not by a long shot, but I'm worried we'll drop that one. I don't think we're yet playing great ball, though I'm confident we will.

Spangler has been spectacular but other than him our bigs still have a ways to go. They're improving and showing signs but Lattin, McNease and Manyang are still works in progress. By mid-season these guys will be solid contributors, especially Manyang.

While they're growing, with the tough schedule we have, we may drop a game or two.

But, I've been impressed by the ball handling improvement of both Buddy and Isaiah. The improvements have been enough for both of them to make the NBA.

I will also be surprised if we beat Villanova. They are quick and physical.
Baylor moving into the top 25 is accurate. They are good and play aggressively. If we played Baylor on a neutral court now, they would win 65% of the time.

Glad we've got these b-ball gurus around to help us keep our feet on the ground. Otherwise, I'd have probably thought we'd be the one beating Baylor 65 percent of the time.

I agree....this is going to be an uphill battle. They have good experience and are well-coached. It will be a good early season barometer for where this OU team is.

Hah, nice, Scrybe!

Ou is as good as any team in the country imo. The number 1 team was tied at half with Illinois state tonight. No one is flat out better than ou in my eyes, and I like our chances against nova.

No doubt, some have to imagine losses to get through these tough periods of being undefeated.
