Next head coach Porter Moser

You aren't concerned about a guy who finishes under .500 in the Missouri Valley 71% of the time?

Serious request - leave this thread alone. You can clog all the others, but we need at least one without your repetitive rambling.

Most of us are very excited to welcome him!

Most the country thinks it’s a home run hire.

Only thing that worries me is style of offense. He will have to adopt. Which coaches do to the talent they have.

I’m all in!
I'm with you and allday on this one.

Moser may not be the perfect candidate, but let's be honest, we may not be the perfect job at this point. But I feel like we got a good one that will bring some national recognition, energy, and excitement to our program. I love LK but maybe that shot in the arm will help boost some of the apathy in fans and donors, that concentrate too much on the LNC, the Thunder, or softball and football to be overly passionate about basketball. I think Moser can help solve this.

Obviously, there are some challenges and we will have to see how successful he can be at recruiting and ultimately putting a winning, exciting brand of basketball on the floor. But I am happy with Moser and excited about our program.

Now have Moser bring the 'stache/Krutwig and Williamson and grab a couple more out of the portal and move this thing forward!

If it's done, Coach Moser deserves all of our support. Until he starts losing! HAHA kidding, but not really.

Welcome coach! Give us your best.

Ok.... In the future the OP should specify that only certain types of comments are welcome in their thread.

You're copying and pasting the same garbage in every thread. We get it.

Gfy...

Those threads are now useless with news of the hire. This is now the official thread to discuss.

Someone in another thread mentioned they are worried about his offense... What's the deal with his offense?

I like the hire. I personally would like more of an up tempo coach for fan support but this guy can coach. If he can get us some Chicago recruits along with some top guys in OK and TX. Watch out.

He’s big in Kansas as well.

No, I’m not. Why? Because he built that program from nothing. Not easy to do. His teams play hard and they’re disciplined. I’m more interested in his more recent resume of winning.

As I’ve said before, Moser is a good coach. My only concern is recruiting and as coach said, he will need to adapt his system to the Big12. Good coaches can adapt to their talent and level of competition.

Terrible hire. Of everyone on the board, this was the worst one.

But, will see how he does.

Come on, ABD! You didn’t get the coach you wanted, but your take on Moser is ridiculous, even for you.

Moser will get my full support! I don’t need a multipoint, lengthy dissertation to show why I make that statement. He’s our next basketball coach! End of story!

As sheepdogs put it, it is highly schemed. If you ever watched Rick Majerus' offense at SLU or Utah, it is that offense. However, Moser didn't have the athletes so he slowed the tempo a little bit. I think it can be a quicker-paced/higher-scoring offense than it was at Loyola if he gets higher-caliber athletes to run it, like those he will get in the Big XII.

My biggest concern is when teams are able to defend that double high post or the screened and backside 3PAs, how effective will it be at scoring. There are some great defensive-minded coaches in our conference with Huggins, Self, Webber, Beard, and Drew, and we have seen what happens when you can't score inside or hit threes.

I am optimistic it will be better here, but time will tell. That and recruiting this area are my biggest concerns, but I think it is a great hire, as good as we can probably get, that will be perceived nationally as a home run.

We all come to this board in a certain frame of mind and some days are better than others. That's how I see it (you can call me Sigmund/Siggy).
