Are any of next year’s recruits capable of playing post at this level?

Don't know how good Aspen Williston is. TCU and OSU were recruiting her. I think she had been committed to OSU for some time. I don't know how good she is.

Is Nydia Lampkin capable of playing post? She is listed as a post, but she plays more like a power forward.

Lampkin is going to have to. EJ is a disaster.

I think Ej and Madi Williams will be our post for next year, Dee could surprise us and start at the 4 or 5, but she’s listed as a wing by max preps and looks to have a nice face up game, not sure if she’s a banger. Ej and Madi will be small, but one of the most athletic front courts we’ve had in some time...

Madison may be too short. We've seen everything from 5-10 to 6-2. I think she is about 5-11. She may play a bit more like Amanda, but I don't see her at post.

We may change what we think is a post. Some teams are quite good using a bunch of power forwards in rotation. If Nydia is a post, she will be a different type of post.

I don't know what to expect.

Aspen 6-5 or 6-4
EJ 6-4
Nydia 6-2 or 6-3
How serious are we about the Highland Community College forward?

TCU really doesn't have a post.

I saw in the 4A bracket that Williston/Broken Bow could potentially play at the State Fair Arena in OKC next Saturday.

Harrah vs. Victory Christian, 7 p.m.
Broken Bow vs. Muldrow, 8:30 p.m.

Semifinals
SNU – Friday, Mar. 9
Anadarko/Elgin vs. Fort Gibson/Tuttle, 6:30 p.m.
Harrah/Victory Christian vs. Broken Bow/Muldrow, 8 p.m.

Championship
Fairgrounds Arena – Saturday, Mar. 10
Semifinal winners, 2 p.m.

I am only 2 miles away from SNU, I am going to go watch Aspen Thursday evening. Seeing her on a couple of videos doesn't do justice. I notice she only scored 2 points in one of the Area games last week. What I have seen, and its limited, she is a project. I will let the board know what I see Thursday.

OSU and TCU must have seen something. Possibilities:
1. She is good enough to help as a freshman
2. She should be barely see the court as a freshman, but can become effective by the time she is a junior.
3. She is almost hopeless.

After you see her, what are the possibilities?

From the videos i've seen she's a solid big body to have down low, if anything. She's a little uncoordinated and doesn't look to have any solid offensive moves, that i've seen. I hope she develops before next season because if we have to rely on EJ we might be screwed. EJ has all the potential in the world and seems to be a stellar athlete but something has just blocked her development. I don't know if she's lazy in her own time, or distracted, or if the coaches simply won't work with her, who knows.

With what we have coming in, I think that Lampkin (I truly hope she plays big) will have to play as our post and when we play big teams like Baylor, we will have to settle for EJ or Aspen.

Are there any prospects for us right now at Center? What happened with us maybe getting Soares? I think it is ESSENTIAL that we get a big girl with some skills for next season or else teams will see that big gaping hole and punish us repeatedly.

Nobody seems to know anything about Soares. We may actually still be involved with the center from the Australian team, and she would be eligible immediately if she were to enroll.

I found HoopGurlz comments about Williston to be uplifting. Then, they didn't rate her any higher than about #18 or 19 as a post.

Williams avg 15 rebounds this season, that’s more then Mulkey avg at any point in high school, there’s a chance Williams will lead the team in rebounds next year, when I say putting her at the 4 it will be the same way Sherri used Rush, Thompson, Campbell, and Manning. Basically a wing playing an undersized 4 role, one question will be can she defend players like Cox and Holmes, she will be giving up size, but she was said to be one of the most versatile defensive players this AAU season. Also playing her at the 4 might be the only way Sherri can put her on the floor with Shay, Ana, and Tatum... that will probably be our best line up along with Ej at the moment.

I do anticipate that Madison will be a bit like Davis who led the Big Twelve in rebounding at 5-11. If Madison can rebound at that level, a Williston or EJ might be effective at the post. Nydia?

I think she’s going to have to play at least some post, Syb.

At 5-10? HoopGurlz says she is 5-10. Prospect Nation says she is 6-1.

No, not at that height. I saw were she was listed at 6-2 or 6-3. Of course height is always exaggerated in basketball.

If she's only 6 feet or smaller, that's a non-starter.

I think we would both agree that Sherri needs to sign a juice center -- but we both also know she won't.

I have seen Williston multiple times over the last couple years. She is a big body and pretty much has one post move that HS kids can't stop because of her size. I don't see her being relied on much next year. Her size though will giver her a chance to battle down low with teams like Baylor and Texas. OU has had a long list of successful post players so hopefully she will develop.

Mobility? Hands? Defense?

Mobility is probably below average to average. Could be better with a college strength and conditioning program. She has very good hands from what I have seen with a good basketball IQ. Defensively it is hard to tell when I have only seen her play against smaller schools that don't have the athletes she would see in the Big 12. For those that plan on watching her this weekend, don't be surprised if you come away unimpressed. This year it is pretty much a one man show for Broken Bow and it is hard when that one man is the center. The best player on the floor on Thursday will probably the Collins girl from Muldrow. 6'2 Sophomore athlete with offers from OKST, Ohio St, Louisville, and Arkansas.

Agile left-handed faceup-5 with quick 1st-step attack from high post, creates mismatches in paint; soft touch on jumper to the arc; rebounds, initiates fast break; shot blocking presence.
So. From your observation, Olson oversold her quickness.
