Are any of next year’s recruits capable of playing post at this level?
OSU and TCU must have seen something. Possibilities:I am only 2 miles away from SNU, I am going to go watch Aspen Thursday evening. Seeing her on a couple of videos doesn't do justice. I notice she only scored 2 points in one of the Area games last week. What I have seen, and its limited, she is a project. I will let the board know what I see Thursday.
Madison may be too short. We've seen everything from 5-10 to 6-2. I think she is about 5-11. She may play a bit more like Amanda, but I don't see her at post.
We may change what we think is a post. Some teams are quite good using a bunch of power forwards in rotation. If Nydia is a post, she will be a different type of post.
I don't know what to expect.
Aspen 6-5 or 6-4
EJ 6-4
Nydia 6-2 or 6-3
How serious are we about the Highland Community College forward?
TCU really doesn't have a post.
I do anticipate that Madison will be a bit like Davis who led the Big Twelve in rebounding at 5-11. If Madison can rebound at that level, a Williston or EJ might be effective at the post. Nydia?Williams avg 15 rebounds this season, that’s more then Mulkey avg at any point in high school, there’s a chance Williams will lead the team in rebounds next year, when I say putting her at the 4 it will be the same way Sherri used Rush, Thompson, Campbell, and Manning. Basically a wing playing an undersized 4 role, one question will be can she defend players like Cox and Holmes, she will be giving up size, but she was said to be one of the most versatile defensive players this AAU season. Also playing her at the 4 might be the only way Sherri can put her on the floor with Shay, Ana, and Tatum... that will probably be our best line up along with Ej at the moment.
Mobility? Hands? Defense?I have seen Williston multiple times over the last couple years. She is a big body and pretty much has one post move that HS kids can't stop because of her size. I don't see her being relied on much next year. Her size though will giver her a chance to battle down low with teams like Baylor and Texas. OU has had a long list of successful post players so hopefully she will develop.
So. From your observation, Olson oversold her quickness.Agile left-handed faceup-5 with quick 1st-step attack from high post, creates mismatches in paint; soft touch on jumper to the arc; rebounds, initiates fast break; shot blocking presence.
