Next year: Great talent, but different

Good Read Guys!

I will only go with the starting 5.......

PG Strong
SG Woodard
SG/SF Grandstaff
F / Buford
C / Lattin

I like James, we need to see Freeman but from we understand he should be good! McGusty is going to get minutes too. Need to see some improvement from Odomes (nice potential), McNease (nice athlete), and Manyang (Large Man). Doolittle may redshirt?

OU has survived losing Wayman Tisdale, Mookie Blaylock, Ryan Minor, Eduardo Najera, Ace Mcghee, Hollis Price, Blake Griffin, and will survive losing Buddy Hield.

Let's be honest...OU didn't survive losing Blake Griffin. We were resurrected by Lon Kruger.

I dont see strong starting at all.

I think Strong will be better than Walker, but that doesn't necessarily mean he starts.

My guess would be:

Woodard/Strong
Grandstaff/McGusty
James/Odomes
Buford/Odomes/Freeman
Lattin/Manyang/McNeace

Manyang HAS to be better next year, bc one of Lattin/Manyang/McNeace needs to be on the floor at all times. Buford is not Spangler in terms of being able to slide over to the 5 and be an adequate defender.

You have predicted the best lineup and subs
but, I am afraid that Manyang may not improve much

well by all means, take a local kansas city sports commentator from KCs word over the people covering the game or those there :facepalm

really? that wasn't my take at all for the whole game, I'm sure he tuned in when the horns were up and OU was playing poorly...I didn't get the sense the crowd was into it either, along with empty seats being seen

I was only mentioning the perception. whatever..

McNeace, to me, def has a higher ceiling. Younger, def is "smoother" with feet and hands.

I don't disagree with you on Manyang, but he may have to play more next year regardless. Landing Bolden would help with this problem, but I still see that as a long shot.

How many games can you play? He played in 8. I thought you couldn't play in more than 3 games but I do not profess to be an expert on the rules.

You can get a medical redshirt if you play in less than 30% of the total games played.

That's right. You can play in 30% of the regular season games (all in the first half of their season). Iowa State has 30 games so he could have played in 9. He actually sat out a couple of games before deciding to pursue the medical hardship. Same thing that Phil Forte did at OSU.

listening to sports here in KC, that was one thing one of the guys was saying. Last nights crowd at OU was pathetic. #1 team..or close to it, playing your rival and it was dead.

Course, they did finally mention that it's a new thing...instead of fans motivating the team..teams now seem to have to motivate the fans. I almost called in cause I've seen a few ku games on tv where the fans weren't all crazy all the time.

But yes, OU is a football school...

do they still require you to buy a bball season ticket to help your "points" to get better fball tickets? I know ku did that but opposite and fans hated it.

Texas is more of a rival in football than basketball to many fans. I can remember a day when we never played Texas in basketball and when we did we always won. The LNC will be loud for KU and OSU, those are the basketball rivals.

I think in Basketball, every big 12 teams rival is KU.
